  1. Peralta's post-season will prob get him a nice pay boost in FA, Looks like he doesnt need the PEDs
  2. Actually I think Melky will bounce back next year. I was just scoffing at the fact someone was suggesting a passed drug test meant anything.
  3. Melky aside, I think it's established fact that "passed drug tests" means nada
  4. Youre not undertanding that the post-season can be a completely different environment. BOS and DET were the two most high powered offenses in the league but in this series they dont have the luxury of facing TOR/MIN and all the fringle mlb guys along the way of a season to pad their stats. We all know how good DET SP is and BOS's has been money as well. Lester had an ace like second half I think, Lackey overperformed by far, and Clay had a superb season when healthy So you cant just expect them to put up the same 5-5.5 runs/game they did during the regular season. On the other side of the ball, if you have terrible pitching and they are up against a team like DET/BOS you can expect them to do worse. Although obviously it doesnt always work out the same way. So you're throwing a big wrench into the run-difference philosophy. Having some level of harmony may seem old school to you number crunchers but I think its ideal. Especially in the post-season.
  5. I dont understand why teams dont go to 3 man rotation when theres auch a drop off to #4.
  6. I would be thrilled with 5 #2 SP. Unfortunately, we have 2 #3-4 guys and the rest #5 guys. Playoffs are still a crapshoot though. Guys like Lester and Lackey can come up big. Getting to the playoffs (and not just as the WC as thats a 1 game coin flip) is the goal. That said, no doubt teams with aces have the advantage but stuff happens.
  7. Groin, abdomen, and a hammy I think. All lingering issues that will effect performance. Wrong time of year unfortunately.
  8. Yeah Rays are drab. Amazing what they do as an org but that doesnt mean they are close to as watchable as the teams with star power... For the casual fans anyway i guess. Me included though
  9. Lol..why is everyone an A's fan now? Go DET! Oak wont beat BOS
  10. The rosters were exciting, but what ppl prb forget is that the core of those teams wasnt old. It was built (optically at the time anyways) for sustained success. Guys like Rios, Wells, Hill, Overbay all regressed early and then young P kept getting hurt Not that it was all JPR, he inherited some players to build around.. But he made some quality supplemental moves.. Waant a special GM but i think he did better than AA.
  11. Steroids taken responsibly..in an educated manner like a pro athlete would.. dont run much risk of serious health problems. For adults anway. There is definitely unwarranted fear spreading from the media regarding them.
  12. What in the f*** is this thread..lol.. I made it to bin laden scheming and Magic having HIV
  13. Jays would have trouble scraping together 100 decent cents, much less 200. They dont have blue chip pieces to play
  14. A-Rod is prob the biggest douchebag in this generration to play the game.. very odd character.. I will always root against him come playoff time, funny seeing him choke.. but like others, I think Selig is the bigger douchebag and its really hard not to root for A-Rod in this whole thing. I wonder if main stream media have talked about that on tv? I dont really watch.
  15. Velocity, while important, doesnt mean anything as far as his ace credentials go. He could go down the Cliff Lee path and be fine. Plenty of guys like Halladay start out as flamethrowers and stay aces even when that goes. Price is clearly of that breed if you base things on this season. Also, he missed some starts and still made 27 starts and almost 190IP.. he's not a serious health risk as others alluded to.
  16. He went spouting off about awards cause he was getting trolled to s***..and he prob had a few cocktails too..i can understand the human element. But he should be more secure as multi-millionaire star to be getting into with bum sox fans who prob live at home still
  17. Meh.. I understand where its coming from. So i wouldnt call him a douchbag. Ordinary people that talk s*** to a celeb dying for a response are pretty douchey.... But unbecoming of an athlete/celeb for sure. Needs more self esteem apparently
  18. Well yeah.. But by the end of 2012 it was pretty clear we werent going to be a good team in the near future. All that "superior scouting" s*** was exposed as a mirage. Was either play to win or switch horses (GM)
  19. Big minus to this new board is no more StL fans to turn this thread into something entertaining:(
  20. Well, in an ideal world Dickey, MB, and Morrow were 3 good SP options for 2-3 seasons. Reyes, Melky, JB, Edwin, Rasmus, Lawrie had spots. With supporting pieces that was supposed to be a good core for 2-3 year run. When youre winning its easier to add.... Easy to laugh at now though. But I really think AA sucks in the draft so it would have all crashed eventually. Happy if he goes.
  21. Yeah, Im not saying it took any skill to do what AA did. He's a s***** GM.. wasnt endorsing him but.. I mean the hope was the team was going to be a contender for 2-3 years.. not one.. but now it's a mess
  22. Yeah I agree.
