  1. lol @ an article I was just reading that puts Jays on a short list of destinations for Cano
  2. The big difference being Bos didnt mortgage their farm to make a run or commit to any long term franchise sinkers if things went bad
  3. I really think Kendrick would hit well at RC
  4. Plus you get significant possible upside with Ackley.. he would be nice but SEA will prob want something good for him
  5. I dont know. I mean as Jay fans we all drank the Jay juice.. but a lot of his aquisitions had big ?. Dickey for example.. there were lots of people questioning how the league change would go, MB.. how the soft tosser would do.. Melky, how no steriods would go.. Reyes, if we could stay healthy and was coming off down year. The thing is that unlike Boston and such, his moves had lasting effects and could harm the franchise if they go bad.. instead of what AA used to do with guys like Morrow, Escobar, and Rasmus
  6. I dont think that was Ellsbury's best baseball. He was slow out of the gate and had nagging injuries. Usually I dont like signing the 31yo speed guys to 5 year deals but I would love to sign JE. I wouldnt be suprised to be see him be legit 6 WAR guy the next couple years.
  7. I would've guessed that. He's going to be a year-to-year kind of thing.

Lol @ Dexter Manley (former Redskin) when asked about Troy Aikman on live radio.. Says "I think Troy Aikmans a queer"..
  9. Yeah i take exception to the notion AA "built" a Top 3 farm. There was nothing special to it. He moved the best SP in baseball like anyone could for a mega prospect package. He got a blue chip piece in return for Marcum as he shouldve. Yes, he did compliment that by taking advantage of the comp system to add more high picks..but that is all done now. Also the majority of his high picks have flamed out. Really that Top 3 didnt have a ton to do with Synder and such. They werent even sniffing Top 100 at the time if i remember right. So where is the impact of that Top 3 farm a few years later? AA really hasnt proven s*** about building a farm..every team has intriguing low level guys (recent draftees)
  10. Yeah I think Dillon Gee would have a chance to post the lowest ERA for the JAys as-is. Very sad
  11. So glad this didnt turn into Trout v Cabrera
  12. Did Trout bang some of the GG nominator's wives? You would think after stiffing him last year, they would atone this one
  13. Sorry, meant JFAS. Thought it stood for JAys Flags and Stamps
  14. How about the addition of Jays Flags though.. combines Nox-level numerical knowledge with friendly posts to just about anyone that isnt a total douchebag.
  15. No coming back for this post. If there is indeed still the yearly poster awards, they disqualifies you from the top spot. Jays Flags in now the odds-on favorite. .and ROY I guess too
  16. Garza 1.6years @ $10m total is a joke
  17. Fielder's contract is definitely too long and bloated.. I wouldnt want to Jays taking it on.. but I think people are wrong that he's more likely to regress than the average player. I think it's the opposite. I would be more worried about the guys that rely on their athleticism and testosterone levels from their 20's. It's doubtful Fielder will get any more fat and he will prob keep his elite raw power for years to come. Sure he will be a defensive liability but he will prob have an Ortiz like career. He wont ever match Ortiz's monster years in mid-2000's but they were most likely steroid fueled.
  18. I think any manager is going to be + or - a small number of games during a season. They certainly arent going to be +10 WAR guys but I do believe there's such thing as negative WAR managers. I think Bobby V falls under that category. I dont think a manager can make guys play harder to win.. but I do think it's their responsibilty to keep the team together and focused. When they dont and players become unhappy, I think it can negatively impact performace. It's one thing saber doesnt measure. Like how Aaron Hill can go from a 0 WAR guy to a 5 WAR guy overnight. Players are human.. like any other workplace.. a bad environment can effect performance. But on the flip side as I said, I dont think managers can rally guys to more wins.
  19. Totally different because someone else deserved that GG much more than JM deserves MOY.
  20. No doubt the org set the tone and then hand picked the guy they thought would fit. I mean i think Farrell deserves the award..but yeah, the players and org are what drives the franchise.
  21. By that same logic (i know its sarcastic), why should Francona get the credit for getting the Indians to "play harder".. A manager is obviously nowhere near as important as a NFL HC. Congrats to Farrell though. He may not be a 10 WAR manager but he walked into a s*** storm and he kept the team from ruining its season again. Thats what a manager can actually do.
