Looks great. A lot of definition is genetic. I know guys that pound the gym working upper body for instance but they still have some man boob.. so if Vlad took his shirt off you’d still prob see that and there’d be snickers he was still a soft fatty but looks like he’s putting in the work. Abs are another thing that’s genetic and it looks like he flattened out to stomach at least
6/135 isn’t coming hard in the paint. It’s something they could put on the table. He’ll likely wait a bit if that’s the case to see who his choices would be. No WS contender looking at him is going to take JBJ instead as the missing piece they need, except maybe the Mets as they’ve upgraded big elsewhere
I used the word “flirting” as exact number of Mets offer wasn’t known. But reports were that he wanted a lot more than $150m. So based on his reports, his initial ask could’ve been something like 6/180. Just using common logic that a lot of teams would balk at that after checking in (or Houston when they discussed extending him) but made their interest known. So the agent would circle back when/if the numbers change by a lot.
I really think Jays were used to make the Mets bid against themselves from what we know. If 5/110 was the Jays offer that’s the only thing you can surmise
Mets were linked to him flirting with a $150m price tag. I’m not sure why the Bluejays were so proud to get linked with 5/110 and considering that hot and heavy. I’m just spit balling (based on reports though) but I’d imagine Springer made his demands known and a lot of teams were out but as he considers lesser offers, I’d imagine his agent would start reaching out to teams to let them know. At that point, something could happen quick with a team that isn’t Mets or Jays
I think Hou is a sleepier sleeper. Don’t think there was anything wrong there except he was looking for way more than they were willing to pay. When he likely has to come back to earth a bit, they could be in the mix. Not like they’re tearing it down and not competing
We’ll see. Could see Red Sox, Braves, Houston, Mets still.. maybe SF. They’ve all probably checked in. A lot of teams were probably content to wait once they heard his initial demands. Jays weren’t shy to throw a 5/110 deal out there anyway.
I’ve always thought the Springer market was 5/125 (which seems to be consensus) and it would take 6/150 to get him to come to TOR. Hopefully I’m wrong bc they prob won’t pay him that. I’d do it though
Yeah the team that lost a ton of money and wasn’t going to have a dime to spend on anyone. All these teams posturing got the board thinking Jays would be swimming in dreamland this off-season
The major players will be at the table for the 1st and 2nd tier guys
Well, based on reports of Toronto offering 4/78 that’s a really fair market value offer. The possibility he signed a favorable deal with NY can’t be ignored. Most of the other signings so far suggest Covid discount is a myth. Sugano had a certain price in mind and was open about demanding it, or else. He chose else
Yeah so far the reported offers seem fair. Gausman 3/40, DJL.. Springer a bit low at 5/110 but that was an initial offer so 5/125 is a likely final offer but prob someone else will pay that and he’ll go there. Gotta overpay for guys, that’s the unfortunate rub
Yeah I’m kind of warming up to it. Seems like a good compromise for both parties. DJ likely wasn’t getting more than 4 years anywhere else. Gets the money he was looking for, it’s just stretched out an extra year that benefits the Yankees. Not like it’d be likely that he’d be looking at a lucrative FA deal at 37. May have left like $5-10m on the table that last year- if he’s even worth that then
I’ll be surprised if it’s 6/90, likely 5/90. Weren’t reports Yankees offer was 4/80?
I’m sure Jays would’ve had to beat 5/90 by quite a bit. Not sad until Springer signs
There’s too many advanced stats to keep up with. Just reading an article about Boston’s interest in Semien and what it means for Bogey and apparently he’s like the worse SS in baseball per Statcast outs above average.. and he’s been been progressively bad for a few years..which doesn’t track with Fantrax
Depends If Jays sign one SP or two. If it’s one, I hope it’s not Kluber or Paxton. Not like Ryu is even an iron horse so it’d be nice to pick up a SP you could reasonably expect will be there for you in the playoffs (hoping you get there of course). So in the scenario of signing one guy, I’d take Tanaka if it’s those 3. I’ll agree there’s less upside though
Harden story can be a how-to-guide for Watson in the NFL. Just openly trash your team. That’s what Harden did and they didn’t allow him to practice with the team and he was dealt the next day after the comments. They must’ve been sitting on the deal as it’s unlikely it came together in a matter of hours
