Steve Smith saying Ohtani is bad for baseball because he doesn’t know how to speak English (or uses an interpreter)
Lucky Steve isn’t white, that would prob be a suspension at the very least
Anyone care to share their shameless Acuna discount offers. I know there had to be some. Mine:
Bbdl- Riley Greene, Kopech, Bart, Baty (swiftly rejected lol)
BOREd- Bogey, Bart, Jordan Walker
Ah so you were the one that offered him to me for Altuve lol. I’m assuming you spammed a bunch of people and hoped someone didn’t read a newspaper? Can’t say that’s not smart.
Biggio’s value is built into him being a 2b, if he’s a corner OF like Gurriel you basically got a Randall Grichuk out there, just obp instead of slg. Gurriel is actually/should be a plus bat
4 for his last 22 with some bad plays at 3b is quite good? I don’t think anyone thought he was as horrendous as his start (which would be he should never see a mlb field). I don’t really see what the issue is calling him a 40 FV player. Head over to FG and tell me which grades you object to. But then grade him as a 3b, he’d be 30. That’s really the only reason I can’t stand him, that he’s playing 3b as a regular and should never sniff it. Didn’t hate him until I watched the opening day NYY series and saw there was no way in hell he should be at 3b
I wouldn’t object to him being the FT 2b going into next year if Sem walks. Like Jansen’s relatively hot start to his career, I think by next year the talk of him being a 4 WAR player is going to cool and the homers will start accepting he’s a league average starter
Doesn’t matter if he’s the slightly better asset, they’re clearly still trying to chase his supposed upside that isn’t there. He’s a backup C plain and simple and should be treated as much. At least Reese is already pegged a backup and not blocking anyone
He’s a superstar now. Nothing left to show. Could sign a $300m deal tomorrow probably, 2019 there were still questions and I’m sure the bonus money was attractive to him. Ohtani prob won’t do it again next year. It’s like the slam dunk contest or something
Walker is an obvious miss at this point but I’d also feel good about Odorizzi rn. That’s the trade off with doing one year deal vs. a few. It’s not a now-or-never situation. Though in fairness we don’t know if Ray would’ve gone more than one, Semien likely wouldn’t have (on reasonable offer). But if Jays don’t go anywhere this year, I’d much rather have spent MS’s money on Odorizzi and Walker. Hindsight of course
He’s almost exactly like his projected tools (optimistically) that put him as 40 FV except when you plug him at 3b you have to subtract fielding and throwing quite a bit. His first year numbers are skewed with Trae Turner Bsr that wasn’t going to be sustainable
Solid piece to have if he’s not playing 3b but to hear him as main trade piece for one of best contract in baseball is just plain homerism
