  1. They’re kinda licking Vlads nuts too
  2. At least you’re being reasonable. Hate to be the troll (k don’t hate it) but if Jays win the division and Angels finish below .500 it’s just facts that it matters. Not like the writers are thinking this is one and only shot to name Ohtani MVP. Vlad wins Triple Crown on top of division win, while Angels fall apart as usual.. Vlad is favorite but Ohtani still close
  3. I sent a Fantrax offer…. I just got an alert that Yahoo added a cool trade assist feature. Figured they’d cater to the casuals. Does Fantrax have anything like that?
  4. Sometimes intelligent guys are guilty of thinking with their wiener
  5. Still enough of the old crusty people where Triple Crown is historic feat. If Jays go to the playoffs and Angels don’t, assuming Vlad wins Triple Crown-I think he gets it. Or it’s really tight
  6. Damn. Lawyer didn’t hold back with the supposed facts. Seems like a good fit for Bauer.
  7. Or they just see him as a really useful player but one that shouldn’t be playing 3b regularly in any scenario
  8. Well, assuming Player A and Player B’s game was fair to their skill set, of course for the next game I’d rather have Player A on my team. But in determining the MVP of a game, series, or even a season…do you use the outcome of a game to determine value? It’s an interesting question, don’t think there’s a wrong answer. As of now, traditionalist thought wins out irl
  9. I don’t debate the wisdom in adding WAR to jockey for playoff position and I wouldn’t claim acquiring “clutch” players is wise. I simply respect the randomness of baseball and rejected the literal thinking of “if we missed the playoffs by 1 game, getting this guy would’ve put us over the top” in hindsight, based on WAR totals
  10. Riddle me this Batman: One game WC. Player A goes 4-4, scorches the ball all 4 times for 3 doubles and a single. No runs come from those innings. Player B goes 2-4 with two somewhat excuse me singles but runners were on 2nd and 3rd for his singles and he has 4 RBI. Players B’s team wins 4-2. Is it unfair to say Player B was more valuable in that game, even if saying Player A clearly played better (and had the deservingly better WAR)? It’s really not even that an extreme of an example. That’s the kind of stuff that plays out most games WAR is predictive. Estimates how many runs shouldve been (/can be expected to in future) generated, not how many were
  11. Hot babip doesn’t necessarily impact games like runs crossing, or not crossing, which I referenced
  12. These type of WAR takes are what makes the old-timers cringe. WAR is about assigning a value for future performance predictions rather than assigning a value to what happened. RBIs and a guy hitting .700 with risp are mocked because clutch hitting and opportunity aren’t a controllable situation and it makes sense not to factor these in looking forward but their impact in a past situation is undeniable. Same with situational pitching, especially with RP. A guy with O WAR could’ve actually helped your team more than a guy with 1.5 WAR.
  13. Apparently he also solves mysteries with his dog on the side
  14. I’d love Cruz but prob doesn’t make sense for how they like to use DH (especially w/Springer). If he goes to Tampa though, that’d really suck
  15. I’m actually going to catch a couple Tampa games in Buffalo coming up. Hope he actually does good but Jays still win obv
  16. I was going to post that you needed to put your boner back in your pants for now looks like
  17. Are we going to allow relevant lib jokes here?
  18. What’s Mountcastle’s slash line against us so far?
  19. Meaning if the format is the now defunct JP Arencibia league? Since Boxcar has retired from fantasy after regularly getting his ass handed to him, his post is clearly dripping in sarcasm
  20. Yeah there’s the big picture sample size where you’re attributing close games to luck… but if you broke it down to a team’s WL record in close games, say 2 runs, I’d wager BP ERA would strongly change the expected winning % of those close games
  21. Yeah that’s what I just came to post. Stings still. Gotta win those games. Save the losses for the duds and back-and-forth either way games
  22. Vaughn, Bart, and Baty isn’t worth a counter? Vaughn, Jung, Bart and something smaller for instance is a nice haul
  23. Still waiting for you to shoot down or counter my Bregman bbdl offer.
