    Yeah, I’ve been on the record for it always as well. You need to hedge your bets against RP volatility if you’re a playoff team and can grab some guys that have stronger chances to be good, if you didn’t develop them. Which Jays didn’t. If Jays crumble and aren’t a playoff team, this year, next year, whatever…his salary really isn’t hurting anything but the P&L. Not much downside to the deal. They needed offense but that doesn’t mean you just forget the other stuff that can make a huge difference in a short series

    Idk man. We usually agree on a lot things, but not here. There’s probably a lot of emotion here. He’a obviously an alpha male with a lot of pride. He’s been hearing for 1.5 how bad he sucks, he’s a fat f***, etc. which I’m not saying was unwarranted. However, being in his shoes, it’s easy to see how he’s going to be fired up along the way if he’s good again

    Meh. If that’s how he needs to get himself pumped up, so be it. Do it as long as you’re good. A little fire would probably help the team. That said, I’m not for pimling 8th inning HR down 6.

    One bad thing for NYY, I inherited Spencer Jones as one of my prospects in my fantasy league and thought I had a bad chipper on my hands. Starting to not look good. Have to know when to cash in on those guys

    Right now pretty much everyone is unified in disgust and guys like Max even, can read the room and know that now is not their time to spread sunshine. However, the split will likely happen again by season end even if the Jays miss the playoffs. It’ll be along the lines of “After June 23, the Jays were the 3rd best team in the AL”. Same kind of thing for players who have an off year, but some sample size to frame it as bad luck/slow start. This is like 5 years in a row where Jays were supposed to be a Division winner threat, perhaps a little less so this year if you think Baltimore was heavily favored. But still, by May every year it’s clear it’s a pipe dream and we’re going to battle until the end for WC2 or WC3. Then when we’ve gotten in, it’s just to get swept. Again on the W3 thing, if it wasn’t for that, this FO would be seen as a disaster. Hopefully that’s it if there’s no playoffs.

I feel like maybe him and Jim at some point were given the bjmb estogen pills they seem to slip people to bring them in to the herd.
