  1. I always liked Gil since I saw his debut, or near debut, against the Jays. Stuff nasty, just needed to harness it. Looking like a great sleeper.
  2. Well, it’s least it’s better than resorting to offensive personal attacks that chase off new posters. Meanwhile, the respectful guys like me get banned the first time they make some sort of harmless political harmless. Seem backwards? You’d think. Apparently not.
  3. A lot of teams have 2024 Kirks. Showed some flashes of success and also some regression from that. A wildcard so to speak. Stop acting like it’s 1 in a million that’s he’s been a disappointment, especially since he’s literally one of the worst conditioned athletes in all of mlb baseball. Maybe he’ll get back up to that 100 wRC+ but stop acting like he was someone you were sure you can count on. George Springer is closer to 35 than 34. This is exactly what the baseball nerds warn you about at any point when this time rolls around. Vlad’s been subpar to his expectations for years. Bo is all you got, and I’m sure he’ll be Bo again, but it’s a Bo that’s just on the other side of .800 OPS and maybe 12-15sb No reverse lottery happened here. They doubled down when all the signs of trouble were there. It’s become clear to the majority of people not seeing through rose colored glasses. Even Laila has polished off his pitchfork.
  4. O’Neil and Teo the low hanging fruit. However, just bc a player didn’t get traded, you don’t know that they weren’t available. We don’t know the FO inner workings but it seems they weren’t putting a priority on finding any plus bats.
  5. People that are new to the board are really the only ones that can offer objective views on things
  6. So, yes on the simpleton thing. That’s what I got out of that.
  7. What does our own opinions mean? What does it matter that I personally would’ve signed Springer? Do you not think there were people that said don’t sign this guy that’s shown he’s got a high risk of breaking down, for $150m? Do you think it matters if I say “I wouldn’t have signed that guy”, and then he’s great… people offer their opinions. If I f*** up huge at work, I’m going to own it. I won’t feel better when someone says, oh I would’ve done that too. Some smart guy wouldn’t have f***ed it up. Maybe you’re the simpleton?
  8. Regarding Springer: should every GM get a mulligan for a bad FA signing and say, couldn’t see that coming?
  9. They offered Chapman that and more last year lol. With everyone on here on board, mostly. They got saved from themselves. They also paid $28m for 3t years of Turner and IKF.
  10. Yeah, but kind of a deaf ears thing. The kids are playing year round for different teams, changing coaches every year, and also working with trainers and baseball factories. This is the path of the professional athlete now. Getting to that top rung takes a lot. So it kind of is what it is.
  11. I haven’t really read studies, and not trying to play doctor, but I’d imagine more so than the narrative that it’s the “max effort” stuff, I’d think it probably has more to do with kids playing competitive travel bb starting from 6, often multiple travel teams at the same time, especially the kids with ML talent. And theres no other game changer even close to a SP in the 6u-18u world. You want them in all the big games
  12. Hopefully for the baseball fans, he holds up. I remember watching Strasburg’s early starts and it was like video game s*** with balls dropping like 2ft an inch ahead of the plate.
  13. Man, who has the worse GM, Jays or SF? I don’t know much about SF’s GM but boy, how many times can you whiff in an off-season on signings.
  14. Looping it back to baseball, this is what’s so f***ing annoying and what every other league gets. It’s a very tiny piece of the pie that never wants Bauer to play baseball again. They’re the cucks anyway and they may say they’ll never watch baseball again, but they will if they did before. It’s a bunch of crap. I figured at some point Bauer was going to get more vocal, as it becomes more clear there’s collusion going on. I’m not saying he’ll be able to win a lawsuit, but there will be more Twitter fireworks for sure
  15. That’s why it’s kind of dumb. I remember many a games with the Jays smoking balls up the middle vs Tampa Bay and Adames is right there for an easy out.
  16. Even at my peak, I wasn’t think much into it. I feel like it starts to water down at a certain point where you start having matchups where you’re rooting for and against a bunch of players at the same time
  17. They were rebuilds my friend. Sometimes they come together quicker than others. The pieces are there. If that was BTS in charge of that team, it’d be a title contender now.
  18. Spanky BORED team was on the clear steep decline. Even retooling, I probably still beat him.
  19. You’re part of the Outfit now? Been well known for a while now. Little known fact to newbies, Adam Greenwood used to one of the only people on my contrarian level. Drove people nuts. Then one decided to stick his tail between his legs and join the Man. You were kind of always a cuck though, so not the same I guess.
  20. Yeah, most of the time, it’s a timing thing. I’ll admit I didn’t see this one. But likely the guy backpedaled to the wall when most guys would’ve been in the same position, he makes the leap and gets it. I doubt 98% of the time, it’s a HR.
  21. Out of anything to contribute to the conversation? Been that way 20 years, mate.
  22. I didn’t see the play in question, but I’d have a hard time believing many plays only get made 2 out of 100 times
  23. Yep, they need to take advantage of the market inefficiency that just this team and its fans here know about. Triple down. Meanwhile, I won’t name the poster, but supposedly the NYY who were hopeless long term and desperate for at Volpe to be good, are doing just fine. Who knew? I hate and will always hate the NYY, but never count them out.
  24. My personality is subject to doing a total 180 at any point in time. Any growth will likely be short lived.
