  1. That’s the point. Really probably one other elite arm in the BP and they’re playing for another game at least.
  2. Bro, they missed out on the playoffs 2 years ago by one game. You’re telling me Brad Hand didn’t have part in maybe losing one more game than they should’ve if they got someone better? Berrios deal was horrendous this year. Do you think you slide on that because the “process was ok”. No. You better make up for that f*** up.
  3. Yeah I’d probably give them one more shot to make a deeper run. Their bold move was Berrios and it was a major f*** up as of now. Maybe that made them gun shy this year.
  4. It’s like a CEO founder that builds a company. Makes it successful but as it gets to next level, it stumbles. He doesn’t really get it take the next step, just makes some failed attempts that don’t work. The competition got better for the playoffs, Jays didn’t
  5. Randomness is good explanation for Game 1. Doesn’t apply to Game 2 considering everything Actually… I mean.. Sea goes out and acquires a CY Young type pitcher, which cuts down on randomness of Game 1 significantly. Though he could’ve randomly had a bad game like Manoah. But he didn’t. Not a try league lol
  6. They shouldn’t be separated. What’s the JD quote? “It’s not a try league, it’s a get it done league” .. Who cares about processes if you don’t get results. Two blown years with a championship level core There’s clear and valid critiques you can make about the team building these last two seasons. The fail in the playoffs exposes the warts
  7. Actually yes Robertson doesn’t look that great. I was going off Spanky and that was a mistake. I’m still of them opinion that while paying “closer” money for an RP is not “smart”, it becomes necessarily at a certain level unless you have the homegrown talent where you don’t need it. Jays aren’t in that spot.
  8. I just decided to up my rhetoric as this is usually the stuff you say to me lol Or about me
  9. You go out and you trade for Robertson or Iglesias, or someone proven, you can say that. If you go thrifty and try to get sneaky value on drifters and it blows up, you cheaped out.
  10. There’s guys you can say “hey we did our best to put the guys in place, randomness wasn’t on our side”. Lifetime drifters in the BP doesn’t allow you to do that
  11. Bass was a year removed from a 5 FIP and lifetime is over 4, maybe it would be more accurate to say his great season in a sss was the randomness? Douche. Make a better argument
  12. I picked
  13. There’s a lot of uncertainly a couple years away with a lot of the core. Jays just swung and missed with Berrios. Seattle did well landing Castillo and locking him up, as they probably wouldn’t have gotten him on the open market. Imagine if Seattle actually moved Kelenic at his peak to boot Planning on landing a big FA really isn’t a good place to be. As a fan we’ll watch all the big names drop off the board, as they often should when they get the ridiculous contract they get.
  14. While you can mention Brad Hand as probably costing Jays at least 1 game overall, it’s impossible to claim the moves this year were the difference between the playoffs and not. So as they did absolutely nothing for the playoffs, on paper or real life, it’s an F for fail
  15. The Brad Hand deal last year was literally the difference of not making the playoffs. 2 giant whiffs the last two years, with a title contender
  16. Or I mean even land Castillo last year plus something. What ifs but can change a whole tenure
  17. What ifs.. but that’s the kind of stuff that decide fates.. know when to hold them, know when to fold them
  18. If Jays Berrios move didn’t spectacularly blow up in their face, maybe Castillo plays for the good guys
  19. But we saved money! And also prospects who may be good when Vlad is on the NYY
  20. Shove the analytics up your bum. Like 1 WAR=1WAR. So if you can make an incremental upgrade of defense that you gain 1 WAR from over the course of a full season, you’re so smart not to pay $10m+ for that 1 WAR for a proven High leverage RP. That’s what a stupid team does. Some deals are made with the playoffs in mind. For big boy teams.
  21. Robertson was also a proven high leverage RP. Not a sss low leverage buy low on a high
  22. Iglesias?
  23. Yeah, everyone is like “we’re so smart and savvy, not paying for Iglesias”. “Great move, you don’t pay for BP even when you have a title contender, we can just get mediocre guys having a good season on a sss, pitching in the 6th inning and it’s the same…” Meanwhile AA in ATL wins himself a division lol
  24. Excuses is for losers. Jays could’ve taken on Iglesias’ salary and maybe it’s a different result. Or moved Moreno and whatever else for Castillo. They played it safe. Now they’re going home. That’s another way to look at it. Paying $$ for a RP may not be the nest way to spend money, but when you are a legit team built to go deep in the post-season, getting these 3rd rate 6th Inning shutdown guys just wasn’t the way to go
