    But besides this blip, seems the serious discussions about the record books are behind mlb, so I’m sure it’ll still be the status quo on past records. Perhaps something new introduced for the current generation at some point

    Perhaps, but the period is forever tainted in the court of public opinion. Anyways, there would need to be a clear red line in the sand to account for not knowing who did what over the last 100 years. You’d have to just limit it to confirmed drug test fails or outright admissions

    Not just them. UFC for instance you get stripped of the win (changed to a no contest) and any title for testing positive. So again, just because something happened (that part you can’t change), doesn’t mean it has to count

    I also have to think there’s precedence in the world of sports. Say a track star breaks a world record but tests positive afterwards. Since he’s stripped of his medal, I’m going to assume the record time is wiped too.

    Like it or not, 73 is the record because mlb allows it to be. If they erase it tomorrow, 73 is just a trivia answer 10 years from now

    I’d erase any record for someone that at least was caught or admitted to cheating. Anything else is gray (This is if Sammy was HR King)
