  1. That’s what it comes down to. Is there bonus points or something for winning with a low payroll? Other than sabr guys fawning over you of course. We don’t know all that goes into to the P&L. They could be just fine. Also, maybe they’re not as eager to make a profit as the Jays. Again, is that a bad thing? That said, I didn’t like their signings last year from the jump. You can only spend so much and so you don’t want to waste anything
  2. What happened to the BatX one? That gets added later? I think I remember that one being a little more conservative with prospects…and I think I remember you saying it was the most accurate in hindsight
  3. Projections for say him and Casas 125 wRC+ seem optimistic. I’m not second guessing the whole model as I dont know much about the workings…but like how often does a guy with this numbers come along and put up a 130 wRC first year say, vs all the guys that flame out and such. You’d think when you jammed it all in a computer, the numbers wouldn’t come out so high.
  4. I like this subtle Jim move. Quietly pump up the Mullins stock a little
  5. Movie take two lol
  6. Does anything Tork did in college factor into projections? I assume not?
  7. Yeah but it’s not basketball where an expiring contract is a bonus to someone. They’ll have to trade a meh starter making $18m
  8. Yeah but traditionally that stays in teams like TAM and PIT’s pockets. So something has to be spurring the spending idk
  9. PIT signing, then this.. how sure are ppl that there wasn’t some change to the revenue sharing system
  10. On one hand, they gave him a 3 year contact, so that contradicts the statement. However, I don’t get why you go with such a high profile 2nd in command. If the team struggles, you know it’s going to be more of a story with Mattingly sitting there. It’s like a team getting a high profile backup QB
  11. Though I think Pujols had something like that and it didn’t work out lol. But if I remember right, LAA parlayed the signing into a monster tv deal
  12. He may get one of those pillow “join the front office” after the contract type deals
  13. One thing Judge does perceivably have going for him is that he’s one of, if not the most, marketable person in baseball. Definitely would be a nugget for a team negotiating tv contract or something
  14. There’s always some jerk off
  15. Did you mail in any lineup changes?
  16. Speaking of SP, how is Tiedemann not ranked by Fangraphs? Didn’t they update their list during the year?
  17. Says the guy who kicked off the season trading me one of the best SP in baseball for Cody Bellinger
  18. Gausman I was wait-and-see with. Another guy I constantly rostered in fantasy leagues for years and finally soured on him…I think it was at least fair to wonder if he could replicate his success in the AL East but he proved legit
  19. Dig it up. I was calling him the ace from Day 1 He’s a FIP beater. If you’re trying to correlate Berrios to something, his FIP and ERA mirror each other pretty well
  20. The other shoe has dropped
  21. Luis Castillo kind of has the same roller coaster thing he’ll put you on…but the stuff is more Ace-y
  22. He’s a 4 FIP pitcher. It stands to reason he often mixes good games with bad ones. No I wasn’t the troll, but I think you’re taking the point way too literally: 1 good start, then two bad ones. Like do you think someone actually thinks that’s a concrete pattern? Lol. It’s just a way of saying he’s too inconsistent to be a front line pitcher. Again, there’s no sense continuing to argue about his WAR. It’s perfectly fine to see it that way. It’s perfectly fine to look at his 4.00 career FIP and judge him that way too. Neither side is wrong. Usually when two sides have a point, it makes for a hot debate It’s all opinion, but if he doesn’t put up a career year in 2021, I doubt he gets that contract. 3.40 FIP and 4.00 FIP pitcher are a little different. I imagine Jays thought he was taking that next step handing out the contract
  23. I wonder what Kelenic would be worth at this point.
  24. Lots of stuff like that could happen, sure. Do you want to bet? Prob not. Seattle is getting it. Seems they’re going after the wild card ticket Conforto Most of this board licks Tampa’s nuts, so nothing wrong with admiring SEA making a push
  25. Not to mention if the Jays missed out on Berrios, you can’t tell me they wouldn’t have been one of the main players for Castillo this year. Also, they probably had a shot on Castillo at the same time as Berrios. Also also, Berrios contract definitely has an effect on FA pursuits going forward. It’s not like NY, Bos, LAD where you can shrug your shoulders at a bad deal. There’s a lot riding on him being good
