Agreed. Until it becomes a national story

If the girl is 100% ready to testify, you don’t silence her. Unless there’s something else there besides she was drunk.

The opening sentence doesn’t really portray it soft like that. And if there wasn’t an embarrassment like the Bauer story with damming contradictory evidence popping up, they’d likely take it to trial even if there was chance
  4. I’m not in total disagreement in regards to approach and not giving the mega deal until a player is 42. But it definitely seems less likely there will be contracts like say Gausmans. Not using the power of hindsight, it seemed like a fair deal at the time. Rodon has the same limited track record of success, except with a significant injury history. If he gets $30m/yr it’s not good for Jays current budget and approach. Also, Vlad and Bo are smelling the cash. All the players are now I’m assuming. Could be noise but seems like stuff changed after this CBA

Give your head a shake. Maybe the cops shrugged it off at first, but the DA got placed on red alert and the investigation became 1A. Read the DA’s statement, the verbiage. It could’ve been worded much more sensitively Of course the ambulance chaser is going to have a conflicting statement.
  6. Well, you actually see these similar market teams to Toronto like Tex, SD, Philly buying like 3-4 of those guys for good measure lol. I don’t tend to think anyone that is running a front office for a mlb is stupid. Like I think SD is perfectly capable to understand the ramifications of the Bogey contract as well as any of us. These franchises are just spending a ton to win and when you think they maxed themselves out, they spend more lol. I mean the Jays don’t want to follow that path, which means the development will need to be a lot better. But it’s worrisome that those value contracts may start getting harder to find. Could be noise this year but seems prices took a big jump across the board
  7. Unfortunately Pearson is the same thing.
  8. Yeah this was basically what I was going to respond with. I mean if you could pump out and replace the talent, more power to you.
  9. Not really man. It’s showing that payrolls and salaries aren’t going to stay stagnant. Jays can stay out of it and look smart for now, but eventually they’ll have to leave their comfort zone. Nothing wrong with waiting to see the long-term picture though
  10. People shift positions. Don’t count on it
  11. Just another example… like nobody think Boegarts for 11 years is a good deal…it’s like a 4 year tax you have to pay to sign anyone good
  12. As some of the more obvious trade partners and FA drop off, there’s nothing wrong with an occasional worrisome groan. Get over it. No doubt they’re out there trying but no guarantee for a lot of reasons. Takes two to tango with everything
  13. I think it was a given Jays have hd in depth discussions with most teams about trades. These guys are all probably spending 16 hours a day this time of year just kicking a bunch of s*** around all day w/each other and with agents It’s all what teams teams do and what they’ll circle back to I guess.
  14. Kinda feels like you should decide and work on one or the other in the off-season. SP or RP. Seems unfair/fruitless to make him into a weapon in the middle of the season if he fails as a SP. Didn’t do much good last year I mean clearly they decided. But I think he’d have more chance to succeed as an RP if he worked at that from the jump

Update on the Bills ex-Punter, DA office: Ultimately, prosecutors determined it is clear the evidence does not support the filing of criminal charges, and there is no path to a potential criminal conviction,” the office said. “Prosecutors can only file charges when they ethically believe they can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt." Dude may never play football again. They destroy these people will articles that make the person look monstrous but then it all comes apart when the investigation starts rolling
  16. Yes but you can’t call someone dumb for looking at his career stats and using that as a sample size. It’s not like he’s improved in a linear fashion. He goes on runs and is prone to deep valleys. Hard to capture that in a half season sample size
  17. Hes worth something for sure. I just don’t think it’ll be the return people here will expect You’d think the Jays would want to figure that out before diving into FA but who knows how the inner workings go. I’m sure trades have been discussed for two months though. Can’t really determine the behind the curtain stuff
  18. You can do all sorts of stuff with arbitrary start and end times Run his numbers for that period ending Aug 24
  19. Well, 20 AS games and 50 sub replacement level ones. Something like that
  20. I wouldn’t touch Conforto for 3 years. I don’t think teams will considering the injury. 1 year sign me up for anything reasonable. Think that’s what it’ll be
  21. I realized the hole in the point. Anyways, I think you peeps just enjoy finding anything you consider old school, and destroying it, even if there’s nothing conclusive proving your point
  22. I concede that point is crossing a lane actually In that part of it has to do with the batter sucking… but it still gives you a general understanding of the fact that sometimes walks are amplified in game situations Like you’re up two, now you walk #3 hitter and #4 can tie it
  23. I can’t claim to have been involved with baseball past competitive 18u but there’s some basic baseball concepts anyone can understand. Like if you’re pitching to the worst hitter on the team in the #9 hole, how frustrating is that when he walks and a good top of the order is coming up. As a fan when it’s 2-0, are you not like “throw a f***ing strike”
  24. This doesn’t compute. A runner has a better or worse chance to score based on who is coming up. You can put that in a square or round hole
  25. Perhaps I phrased it wrong. Walking a guy is “worse” simply because if you don’t walk the guy, even with good hitter, you have a 70-75% chance of getting them out. So a “free pass” as it’s called, in an undesirable outcome in most cases. As for you examples, there’s nothing to spike to football with. So if a pitcher makes a mistake and leaves it in the zone, Judge kills it? But if he chases a pitch, he doesn’t? Is there a Nobel Prize here maybe? Pitchers don’t get to pick the exact spot where they place a ball. You’re not doing anything to break down the logic if you find yourself down 2-0 to Judge and nobody is behind him, you decide to stay careful, while if Alvarez is following, you’re forced to challenge him Also, use broader example instead of “example X”. We can all agree statistical noise is a thing, so don’t hang your hat on it, or at least acknowledge it when you make the point
