    Yeah, I doubt they went to AZ for decency. They probably did tell Bauer they wanted him to pitch. That would corroborate the accounts a little. Then they had their pow wow right before the deadline and cut bait after considering everything

    Seems LAD handled it pretty poorly. They were in communication with Bauer about pitching for them and had met with him in AZ the day before to reinforce that, then they cut bait. Of course Bauer could be lying, but it would be a pretty bold lie. So unless the Dodgers deny it, it’s probably true That would seem to suggest maybe it’s not a blackball situation.

    On one hand, you’d think teams would wait until the story cools but on the other, you risk someone else signing him. It’ll be interesting which way it goes. As for the Angels, not like they can disappoint their fans much more than they have

    Yeah idk. I wouldn’t bet either way on him signing. I know the NFL is different but like with Deshaun Watson, I mean nobody really cares at this point. Just the occasional do gooder on Twitter I’m sure, but I don’t see anything main stream

    I guess as Spanky has so graciously provided, Statcast does know and factor exactly where a fielder is.

    I’m assuming UZR doesn’t take fielder positioning into account. Like if someone rips a bullet up the middle with an expected Ba of .800 but someone is right there, that’s a tough play, right?

    I think it’s fair to say offense is valued more than defense by mlb clubs. Considering they’re billion dollar companies handing out 9 figure contracts in some cases, they probably have an idea of what’s going on. The market “inefficiency” is really teams that can’t devote the resources and seek alternative means of improving the team. UZR and the like are really fickle and they’re still making adjustments all the time. “Scouting”, while old school, doesn’t seem like it’s much worse. wRC+ and such is much more straight forward.

    Common sense says it’s a wash. If a team is a +100 and trades say 10 runs produced for 10 runs saved, they’re back where they started lol.

    Apparently Painter has a legit shot to break camp as the #5 SP for Philly. Should give them a really good rotation if he’s at least solid in his rookie year. Suarez is probably a little better than last year too. With Turner it’s a better team for sure

    Doing some gymnastics there. Varsho doesn’t equal Lourdes with bat projection, that’s the better comparison. So there’s nobody to take any of Teo loss away. I still think it’s a good offense, don’t get me wrong, but you weren’t doing a fair take there
