The more I think about it, the more valuable Sanchez probably is to this team in a trade, as opposed to shaky starter/8th inning guy.

The most simplistic way to explain this would be through WAR I believe. Depending on who you ask, Martin alone is a 5-7 win upgrade on Navarro. Without doing any research, I'd expect that his upgrade alone covers the loss of any of the players you mentioned. The pitchers on the staff should* benefit from Martin behind the plate, to what degree I'm not qualified to answer. In short, if AA can make a couple more savvy additions (Aoki, Saunders, Headley, whoever) and he will have not only replaced the production from those players, but made the major league team better on paper.

Good point. Beuhrle is as good as gone after this season. As much as we want to see Stroman and Hutch turn into reliable 180+ inning guys, the reality is we just don't know that for sure. Dickey's durability just might be needed in this rotation a year from now, too.

I guess if you can prove it with matching IP addresses I'd be able to see your point of view. On the old board, I was falsely accused as "zee" for a while haha (by fatcow of all people, I think he was 7?), all because I had a nickname that was similar that I used as my username. I agree, that sometimes we see "new" users slip up and give away that they're someone we know, but until they do, I think giving them the benefit of the doubt is only fair.

For clarification, I'm not saying you're driving them away. Yes, I agree the biggest problem is the lack of diversity in opinions. But if people chase away new members, there isn't much hope that someone will come along with a different point of view to counter with. What I'm saying is, posters accusing people of being dogg, zee or any other of the whacked persona's we've seen on these boards will make them feel uncomfotable, especially because they don't know who these people (?) are, or who they're being compared to.

About a year has passed since this thread was made, and I think it needs a bump. I post a little, but read almost every post on this site. Lately, I'm seeing more and more posters accuse new posters of being "dogg" "zee" "CHP" or whoever they think of, instead of actually taking the time to explain to them why their ideas are farfetched (and lots of the times they are). If people want this board to grow, putting down new posters isn't going to help. Unless everyone is content with the merry go round that each thread becomes (I'm looking at you, Moogy), we need to encourage new posters to post, instead of tearing them down instantly when they do decide to post. I love this board, and I want to continue to see it grow. With the signing of Martin, new members were bound to find their way here. If there are more moves, there will more likely be an even greater influx of posters. Let's welcome them, instead of degrade them.

Haven't posted much lately, just been reading- busy with school. What is the general consensus on a Melky QO? Does he take it? I think the best case scenario is offering it and he declines. Really don't see him repeating this year. I'm expecting to hear of a 3/40 deal announced by AA because "he wants to be here" and "he fits in our clubhouse". I agree with Moogy- Aoki would be great.

I can financially fit in the following 1B/OF: A)Abreau, R Davis, J Upton and Cutch B)Freeman, R Davis, J Upton, and Cutch or JD Martinez C)Tex, any combination of R Davis, J Upton, Cutch and JD Martinez I really want to play Martinez vs the Twins and May, but not sure which lineup would be optimal. Thoughts?

He was. I live close to the Twin Cities so I watch a lot of his games. Keeps the ball in the park, pounds the zone.

Phil Hughes has pitched 8 innings against the Diamondbacks this afternoon. He needs to pitch 8 1/3 innings to receive a 500k bonus, and they're in the middle of a rain delay! That's some tough luck.

I've had some success, but more losing than success haha. I think I'm starting to get the hang of it though, especially in picking teams between cash games and GPP.

Ive never played DraftKings, but Fan Duel hasn't given me a reason to leave it. It's a lot of fun, and putting in 50 bucks and playing for a few months is a lot better than going to any casino and losing that in a night.
