    So was I. My general point was that the majority of Olerud's posts contain hypothetical scenarios that we have no control over. What if's and maybe's don't hold much weight in an argument.

    Yes it is. 26 year old Rob Rasmussen, a generic, run of the mill BP arm adds exactly nothing of value to this hypothetical trade. A B prospect in this situation is a player similar to Castro, not Rasmussen.

    We don't have to consider anything though. It is all entirely out of our control. Obviously my opinions are contingent on AA being somewhat competent in negotiations with PHI. The opportunity for AA and the Jays to acquire a top tier starter with at least three years of control at below market value should be taken seriously.

    Cole Hamels is like a sexier MB. Since 2008 the guy has made at least 30 starts every year, only missing the 200 IP plateau in 2009 by 6.1 innings. He's never posted an xFIP above 3.73 in his career, and gets ground balls at a nice clip. Fastball velocity on par with his career. His contract will look a lot more reasonable once guys like Cueto, Grienke, Price and Zimmerman are signed in the offseason. I think if anyone makes sense for the Blue Jays, it's Cole Hamels.
