Blah blah blah. Would you rather him have not learned from his mistakes? You could literally make this argument for 29 other GM's in baseball. Highlight the s***** trades, and roughly outline the good ones.
It's pretty obvious that there would've been no Miami deal done without Reyes. To say he shouldn't have had him included and keep the $5M Escobar is for lack of a better word, retarded. Frankly, I'm sick and tired of hearing about the Marlins trade as an excuse to let go of AA. You also forgot to mention that a 3 WAR season from Hech would bring his WAR total to a whopping 1 (!) win above replacement in three years for Miami. As for Mark Buehrle? He'll likely end up with his third consecutive 2 win season for the Jays.
Let's get rid of the guy who has brought in the AL MVP and second best SS in the world for the foreseeable future all because he may have lost some surplus value while Paul Beeston pushed him in that direction. AA has shown the ability to creatively add impact talent at the Major League level. You can say what you want about his past mistakes, but with guidance from Shapiro I do believe this front office can be very successful.
