    A bird in hand is worth two in the bush, bud. Would anyone have been surprised if Smoak got 2/7M? Paid an extra 1.5M to get it done in season and to get an option year in 2019. It's not a sexy move by any means but it keeps guys like Jesus Montero out of the Rogers Centre.
