  1. Well, that only applies to hitting but I don't disagree. There are many avenues teams are/should be willing to exploit to get the most out of their players. Strength and conditioning can play dividends from a hitting/defense/baserunning/pitching/longevity standpoint. It's really the low hanging fruit (along with nutrition) that I would be sinking a ton of money into if I was in charge of any pro sports team.
  2. I agree wholeheartedly. Just as spin rates, rpm's, exit velo, launch angle, etc have taken over the league you can build athletes by having an understanding of numbers and applying them to the strength and conditioning. Bar speed velocities, %1RM's, heart rates are all objective data points that allow you to train efficiently and with intent. I would be surprised if the Jays don't already have a lot of this implementation in place, based on their commitment to areas such as mental conditioning, nutrition, money invested in Dunedin, so on and so forth. It's ludicrous to think that they're turning a blind eye to the most important guy in the organization's physical preparedness. He's always going to be big, but as long as he's strong, moving well and efficiently, I don't care what he looks like. I have faith that the organization understands what is best for Vlad.
  3. There’s no f***ing way Vlad gained 50 pounds during the most important offseason of his life. Guy moves well and the weight doesnt seem to hinder him at the plate and by all accounts the D is decent. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again they will try to work on his weight once he’s an established big leaguer, but for right now just hit and get used to the league. Also for the love of god please no keto
  4. I had a few Cherry Milkshake IPAs last night and they were great. I’m a big fan of sours too. I took Yandy Diaz
  5. Merrill Kelly I guess. Woof the SP market is bare. Spanky you’re up
  6. I can’t imagine Charlie Montoyo will be a very big Norris fan, or put up with any of that ********
  7. I knew Matheny was a POS too but yikes that’s bad
  8. I’m taking Colin Poche. Will PM Hurl
  9. I forgot about Bud Norris being a giant POS. A quick google search of “Bud Norris douche” changed my mind real quick on this signing. Not a fan at all of bringing him into the clubhouse. Hopefully he proves me wrong, but I doubt it
  10. Memo to new guys: the talent level of the waiver draft is bad. Take the guy you want and don’t worry about it feeling like a reach.
  11. It would definitely save face for the franchise, but there’s nothing to be gained long term. He will be up April 2__ even if he’s hitting two fifty in AAA. They’d be crazy not to call him up as soon as the threshold has passed.
  12. Who can give me the cliffs on why Donaldson told the Angels coach FYSMC? Can’t find a specific reason why
  13. Agree with Hurl, good pick. He was one of the few intriguing arms available
  14. Shatkins did not gain any financial flexibility by moving Russell and Tulo. All they did was clear room for the young guys. Are the Jays on the hook for 2021’s 4M buyout? Or is it the responsibility of whatever team he’s clinging to dear life with?
  15. A minor league deal, nice. Would be great to add another arm to the pen to add some more depth. It's going to be a long year, I'd rather not watch the bullpen be a complete disaster every night.
  16. He has been but I think it’s clear Hicks took a bit of a discount AAV wise to secure years in a place he obviously wants to be. Grichuk isn’t going to forego FA without some incentive. Plus this hypothetical is three less years. Create a place where guys want to play and retaining players becomes easier.
  17. This is more of a testament to how disappointing Harper has been vs how great Hicks has been.
  18. Has to be a little more incentive on Grichuk’s part to sign an extension. He’ll make ~8M next year in arb I would imagine. 4/40 in today’s climate where the Jays buyout next year’s arb in exchange for three FA years
  19. NAIA bros! I'm an alumni as well. Best days of my life bar none
  20. What school did you go to?
  21. Nice to see the Rockies lock Arenado up. Maybe they'll stop handing out ridiculous contracts to mediocre relievers now
