    Exactly. Not very concerned about him aging right now. He’s gotten in better shape, proven he can legitimately catch, and his stat cast page is entirely red.

    I agree with you. It sucks watching some of these guys get more at bats than we’d like to see but this is one of the most forward thinking orgs and you just kinda have to trust they know exactly what they’re doing. If we like what the high performance team does in Florida then we have to understand that player usage is directly correlated.

    Makes sense. You’re right I doubt they plan on gaining an extra year by holding him down long enough next year to make it happen. Agreed Super 2 shouldn’t really factor in to the decision. It’s an awkward spot to be in right now. He’s definitely better defensively than Collins, but I’m not convinced his bat is ready. If there was a clear opening with an extended absence by then Jano then I could get behind it. If it’s only a month I think they hold tight. Not sure what the right answer is but it’s a good problem to have

    Has Moreno played one defensive inning at third this year?

    I admittedly have no idea how service time works anymore but I don’t think bringing Moreno up for a couple weeks is the best idea. I’d like to see the guy torch AAA before getting the call. 95% of prospects now are butt cheeks once they get to the MLB. I’m not convinced Gabby’s bat is so special that it plays right away.

    Am I the only one who thinks calling up Moreno would be a mistake? He’s barely slugging over .400 and he’d be tasked with taking on the toughest position on the field. If he falls flat on his face you risk both diminishing his value and confidence while employing the league’s best catching tandem. I wouldn’t be shocked if Moreno doesn’t play in the bigs in 2022.

    Smart to take the cash especially with two knee surgeries already at 24. Great for Houston to lock up one of the more under appreciated sluggers in the game.

    I don’t think Orelvis is a top 50 prospect either. Way too many question marks as it stands plus sliding to 3B. Not many comps that I can think of. A Joey Gallo/Ryan Mountcastle hybrid

    From May 1 - June 1 for Orelvis BB 9.2% K 24.5% .244/.337/.547 wRC+ 139 The first month numbers were obviously concerning but gotta give him time to make adjustments during his first taste of AA. If he was still walking 2% of the time and whiffing 30% there would be way more questions.

    Goins was awesome. Pillar was less inviting but it was after he had hit two homers off of Scherzer and I mentioned that and he warmed up lol. But you’re right Donny might’ve kept walking but those guys weren’t quite in that position.

    I watched that game with my buddy in Saskatoon and we still talk about it. We were convinced he was going to be Mike Piazza after that game lol

    My first games were in Toronto with my dad and both my brothers. Flew into Toronto to watch a 3 game set vs the Rays in 2015. When we were pulling up to our hotel we bumped into Pillar and Goins on their way to the field. They stopped and chatted with us for a few minutes. Good guys

    Ground ball rate down 10%, lowest Swst% of his career, highest EV and most barrels ever. All of this in the midst of the worst hitting environment he’s pitched in. Weird. I don’t know why he sucks right now but hopefully we get a second half Berrios that lowers his ERA to the career norm of 4.00
