  1. What is with you people? Can't you say anything good about the Jays? I mean, Webster made Minnesota look good--and he was awful vs. Detroit. Allen Webster's peripherals are: 14.3 H/9IP, 3.8 HR/9IP, 4.5 BB/9IP, 9 SO/9IP This isn't like pitching in Pawtucket--MLB hitters will pound his stuff. Here are his average pitches he uses according to Fangraphs: Fastball: 94.7 MPH (has given 4 HRs on this pitch) Changeup 85 MPH FT 93.5 MPH Basically, hit the fastball--he doesn't have the command yet on it, and until he does, he will be hit around frequently. He also has control issues as well.
  2. No rainout in the forecast--rain isn't expected until morning. Game on!
  3. Trevor Bauer last just 2/3rd of an inning vs. the hapless White Sox--5-0, with the bases loaded. It's going to be a long day for Cleveland vs. the White Sox. Good news for the Jays and Tigers, BTW(we're both within distance)
  4. Yanks are playing the O's. And Webster couldn't even beat the Twins..
  5. Jays get an easy matchup today. Webster has yet to prove he can pitch vs. MLB talent.(5 HRs given up, and very hittable) More good news--Yanks are using CC Sabathia vs. the O's today--they really want the Jays to get back within 3 games.
  6. According to ESPN's Beane Count--we're a better team than the O's, although not by much. Baltimore's grade is hurt by bad pitching(too many HRs) and inability to take walks at a consistent pace. We're also near equal with the Red Sox, since the Red Sox walk too many batters(see Doubront, Webster, Dempster, and their bullpen). Detroit is considered the best team--but it's still a mystery--why aren't they running away with the AL Central? http://espn.go.com/mlb/beanecount
  7. FYI, Chris Davis is even better with a 4.3 WAR. O's need Wei Yen Chen back soon--but what will he bring after his injury? Here's how bad the Yankees are--their WAR leader is Brett Gardner(2.6), not Robinson Cano(2.1). Everyone else has been basically replacement level at best. And Red Sox players have been really good--Pedroia, Ellsbury, Ortiz and Victorino all have WARs of 2 or more. Rays--Evan Longoria leads with a 4.3 WAR--but why are the Rays so inconsistent?
  8. Machado's on a record pace for doubles.. still, they need pitching badly in Baltimore if they're gonna stay in contention. July's schedule features teams likely to be in contention, including: Yankees(twice, starting tonight) White Sox Rangers Blue Jays(we swept them last time) Rangers again Royals Red Sox August isn't any easier either, and don't ask about September. Baltimore's lack of pitching depth is going to get exposed when they face elite teams. As a result, the Jays still have a decent chance at catching that 2nd wild card spot(and maybe 1st, depending on what happens with Texas/Oakland--nobody else outside of maybe Cleveland has a shot of contending in the Central, the Yankees can't hit(offsetting their strong pitching), and who knows what the Rays will do. Remember, the Jays sked begins to soften after the Detroit series.
  9. We've got the deadline coming up.. they'll be options on the market.
  10. Boston is really stretching its lead now--4.5 up on the Yanks. And they're probably hoping Baltimore buries them(or New York beats up Baltimore)
  11. Well, Wang has bad career numbers vs. Boston--what do you expect?
  12. Everyone looks like a last place team to Boston--they have huge leads vs. the Yankees, O's and Rays in the standings.
  13. Oh well--try again tomorrow. Next three starters have issues with wildness--and Webster isn't very good in his first few starts. We should have a good shot vs. Doubront and Dempster as well. This was probably the game we were going to lose--Wang just doesn't pitch well in Boston(4.98 ERA, not including tonight). At least we did make it interesting--it's not like we were blown out. Guess we shouldn't let him pitch vs. Boston.
  14. We'll be 4 back--O's are beating the Indians. Luckily, the Yanks and O's will be attacking each other this weekend.
  15. Just keep chipping away--remember, the Sox bullpen isn't that strong, especially with Uehara not around until the 9th now.
  16. No wonder the Red Sox are beating up everybody! Ridiculous! Loup now in.
  17. Most of those games were early in the season when Vernon Wells, Travis Hafner and Lyle Overbay were off to strong starts.
  18. Nolasco's going to either SF, SD or LA(Dodgers). He wants to pitch on the West Coast.
  19. We're in contention. Buehrle's not going anywhere--Bonifacio might, though.
  20. Can't blame the Dodgers for going after Nolasco. With the D-Backs struggling and the Dodgers only 6 back of them, it's not a surprise the Dodgers are still thinking they can win the division. Of course, the Padres feel the same as well.
  21. IF the O's can afford to upgrade. They're at a disadvantage in money and prospects compared to other teams at the trade deadline.
  22. Scratch Ricky Nolasco off the Orioles list: http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/mlb/story/_/id/9427326/los-angeles-dodgers-miami-marlins-trade-talks-ricky-nolasco-source-says Also keep in mind Baltimore can't take on anymore payroll--ownership is cheap, and they have many arb raises coming in 2014(including a likely very expensive raise for Chris Davis). They're tapped out right now at $92.2M--can't see them crossing $100M. O's don't have the financial backing that the Red Sox, Yankees and Jays have.
  23. Yes he is--likely early July. And Baltimore needs pitching--they don't have enough assets to make too many significant trades.
  24. With what? Their farm is pretty bare, especially with Gausman struggling and Bundy out until 2015 with TJS. Johnathon Schoop is hurt and still a ways off. And where's your proof?
