  1. Rain Delay. And that game is now in the 13th...
  2. And with that bullpen, the Tigers may actually be worse.. we have Casey Janssen, Detroit has---nothing. Rondon's not ready, Benoit is a setup man, and their other bullpen arms aren't good.
  3. Well, at least we have the disappointing Tigers next.. but what a gut check of a loss.
  4. Well, it's a muggy day. Luckily, Edwin is DHíng today anyway.
  5. And another disappointing game for the Tigers. Cleveland is now in 1st in the Central. Detroit is now out of the playoff mix for the wild card--they're well back of Baltimore and Oakland. Doesn't bode well for the Tigers in their coming series with Toronto and Cleveland--they're very similar to the Jays, but with a ton of inconsistency outside of Scherzer, Cabrera and Fielder.
  6. Mid-back tightness for Adam Lind. Guess EE will be back to playing 1st again.. if it's a DL need, can we bring up Mauro Gomez?
  7. Eric Thames has been acquired by the O's for Ty Kelly(a low-level prospect playing in AA at 24)
  8. Agreed--Pettite's declining, Hughes has home run issues and needs to be traded to a NL team with a large park, and Phelps/Nova have consistency issues. I mean, look how bad Phelps was last night!
  9. Keep in mind our schedule begins to lighten up after Detroit(although Detroit isn't playing well either--so you could say it's lightening up after Boston)
  10. This is how bad the Yankees are right now: http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/yankees/post/_/id/58285/first-pitch-girardis-hands-are-tied Basically, it shows: JPA > Stewart/Romine Lind > Overbay Izturis/Boni/DeRosa < Cano Adams < Izturis/DeRosa/Lawrie(no joke!) Reyes/Kawasaki > Nix Cabrera/Davis > Wells Rasmus = Gardner Bautista > Ichiro Encarnacion/Lind > Hafner Pretty embarassing for the Yankees.. and no significant help is coming.
  11. That was for contenders within 3 games.
  12. One more note--Detroit is an ugly 17-20 on the road, which is not a good number for a contending team like the Tigers.
  13. We're in contention. No way. Detroit's more likely going to overpay for someone like Johnathon Papelbon or Jesse Crain, or even Kevin Gregg.
  14. We're not that far back of the Tigers in the standings--only 3.5 back. Detroit is supposed to be one of the best in baseball, but: -Holes in LF and C, and an inconsistent V-Mart. -Anibal Sanchez on DL -Scherzer only real dominant starter--without him, Cleveland's leading the division by a mile. -Very hittable starters outside of Scherzer--Verlander's numbers are down, Fister and Porcello have been inconsistent, and Alvarez is unproven and not a long-term option(he's not even a propsect!) -That AWFUL bullpen! (6-14, 4.04 ERA and just 17 saves) -Weak farm system--only blue chip prospect right now is Nick Castellanos(why hasn't he been called up yet?)
  15. Yes--but Verlander has not been the same this year. All his peripherals(hits, walks, pitches per inning) are trending the wrong way.
  16. Oh and BTW Detroit needs a closer badly--Rondon blew the game with his lack of command.
  17. Wow, the Tigers are under-performing badly! They're in danger of handing their division to Cleveland and endangering their contention chances if they have a bad game tomorrow and in their coming series vs. the Jays and those same Indians.
  18. What a fall from grace for the Yankees. Last place is not far away for the Yankees--and unemployment is looming for both Girardi and Cashman if they finish last.
  19. Time to fire Girardi and Cashman.. the Yankees are now down 6-0 to Baltimore. They're playing like the Jays in April right now..
  20. We still have many games with both teams--don't count us out.
  21. Jeff Francouer finally DFAed by the Royals.
  22. It's going to be a LONG night for the Yankees.. Phelps is struggling badly.
  23. And boy are the Yankees bad--our Jays will be in 3rd in the East soon at the rate things are going, especially with Longoria out for the Rays.
  24. Wade Davis sets a major league record--for most pitches to get 3 outs. 69 pitches! Part of the reason why the Royals won't be contending anytime soon.
