You're probably just thinking of the mini consolation round for playoff teams. Yahoo brackets every playoff team into 3 matches, so we always have 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th place games. It's nice because I think anybody in the playoffs would rather finish 5th than 8th. There's some pride there. So even if you lost R1 you can still set your lineups and beat some of your rivals and least favourite people in the playoffs. Next year when I set up the league I'll check for a true consolation option. I don't think I've seen it before. It wouldn't affect draft pick standings, obviously.

Devon Travis was worth almost twice as much WAR as Ryan Goins this year, in 2/3 of the playing time. There's a reasonable chance that if Travis doesn't get hurt he's second on the whole team in fWAR right now.
