Especially in this era with specialized bullpens and teams having do many shutdown relievers. No team should need their SP to pitch into the 8th anymore, because every team should have a reliever for that inning who would project to pitch better in that inning, every time.
Yeah. Sinkers early for strikes, four seamers with 2 strikes for punchies.
He was the best he's ever been in 2014, when he was a four seam guy (2.84 FIP!). So there's that.
The elbow thing is terrible since he's busted it before. Screw came loose and the thing lost structural viability, which is why it snapped so easy this time.
I'm not sure how many times you can screw into someone's elbow and have them still remain a high level athlete.
Would buy though. Great opportunity for one of the rebuilders.
Honestly, no. Not with Vazquez the elite defender back. Their best MLB roster would have Vazquez (best defender) and Swihart (best hitter).
Makes sense for them to keep him around for a bit though, just in case Vazquez' elbow doesn't hold up.
Golf claps on the despair trade tactics btw. It's a classic move.
I don't think he's in any risk of losing C eligibility. He's not an Evan Gattis type of defender, or hitter for that matter. They probably just want him to gain flexibility for potential 2016 purposes since carrying 3 dudes that can only catch is a bad idea.
Anthony Rendon has zero HR and zero RBI
in 80 games last year he only had 5 HR and 25 RBI
20 grade produkshun. Talk about a fall from fantasy grace.
Ryan Zimmerman also has zero HR and 1 RBI. Those are the two guys sandwiching Harper. Protection debunked.
Must be a mistake on Raul Mondesi Jr's baseball ref page.
1.150 OPS, already 3 HR and 5 SB, while being the youngest player in the Texas League?
I'd probably consider trading him and Swihart for Pollock, min.
This is a good point. Foolhardy.
I'm sure if they'd just started Panda and stayed quiet for a month or so, they would have been able to pawn of like ~80% of his salary on the Padres. s***, they probably could have gotten some sort of demented "bad contract swap" for James Shields if they wanted.
Yikes. Good thing I forgot Christian Vazquez existed and called Swihart up literally two days ago.
Why would they even entertain the idea of demoting him or having him switch positions? Just pretend that he's a stud and trade him if you think CV is better.
Yeah he hit like 5 home runs in half a season and had a sub .800 OPS. Also the leg injuries seemed chronic. That was the point that I bought him in the DDL.
