  1. Is Bautista even a top 5 player on the Blue Jays anymore? I doubt it.
  2. Shatkins is so refreshing. So many shrewd little moves.
  3. It smells so much like the Grilli trade. Interesting. Benoit is still throwing as hard as ever. He has a long track record of being quite good. Just seems like a random BB spike in 24 innings this year.
  4. *checks to see who just added Alex Dickerson*
  5. He has been gross this season though - replacement level - so there's not much to lose by letting him start. If he can shut down Toronto then maybe his value ticks up.
  6. That's a decent question. I wish I knew. Wishful thinking is that the grandmaster plan is about focusing capital on an Edwin extension.
  7. It's not like the outlook is terrible. His projections are fine for a bench bat. So the move would be fine as long as they are paying bench bat salary.
  8. Probably an identity crisis. He was a Melvin trapped in a BJ's body. Atlanta is a cesspool of an organization these days. Maybe weird psychological things with the expectations him and his brother had. Maybe just random flux.
  9. And then before THAT, he was consistently above average for like six straight years, with a broad skill set. Not much has really changed about his game ever. Strikeouts, power, speed, defense. It's really not recency bias. In baseball, you need to weight the most recent information more heavily. Any projection system would. We need to see the deal before passing judgment. If it's Upton at full salary, or near full salary, I don't like it at all.
  10. Upton has been solid for two seasons now. 3.1 WAR in ~600 PA over 2015 and 2016. He's an ideal 4th outfielder. Pinch hit option with real pop, decent defense, good pinch running option, veteran.
  11. No, it's reputation based. Scouting reports all along pegged him as a plus defensive 1B. He got frequent Mark Teixeira comps as a prospect. It's not like he's ever been bad. He has great hands and is a fantastic fundamental 1B. He just has s*** range, which kind of cancels the rest out. He's an average 1B.
  12. He siphoned it from Stroman over the offseason.
  13. why? I don't see how he fits at all
  14. Depends on how much salary they eat. If they eat nothing, then he should cost nothing. If they eat a big chunk, then maybe some B- prospect like Connor Greene.
  15. his email is whatwhatinthebutt68@on.gov.ca
  16. Good start to the week! Thanks North. I'm guessing it's this. Dietrich looked more attractive in a speculative sense last year, when he had a .200 ISO. Not happening right now.
  17. Sudden velo drop, unexpected. It happens. .485 wOBA on his Sinker this year (primary fastball); .324 career. Some of it is bad luck but not all of it. http://www.fangraphs.com/pitchfxo.aspx?playerid=6983&position=P&pitch=SI
  18. He can certainly get in better shape or get ripped, but I wouldn't say that he can change his body type. His speed tool wouldn't change much or at all, even if he had 22s and rippling abs.
  19. I just don't see it. I scouted Perdomo with two eyes for one entire inning during the Futures Games, and was thoroughly unimpressed. I saw a high effort 91mph chucker. I think as a starter he will get nuked in the upper minors and the bigs, unless he can add velocity, which isn't likely at 22 years old. But in relief he might work. I mean, he would probably work in relief. It's also important to note that he's kind of old for his level, in prospect terms.
  20. david purcey ceiling
  21. future LOOGY, not top 10
  22. prettayyyyyy good top 10 actually
