That was tough to watch. They basically dealt Lucic and Hamilton - two core players - for a handful of second round picks. I don't know how good Hamilton is or should have been in terms of fancy stats, but when Zdeno Chara is 38 years old flipping your only other possible first pairing defenseman for nothing hurts.

Bell hasn't demonstrated big pop. Maybe he's Brandon Belt in a good outcome? Bellinger hasn't demonstrated basic slashline skills that are required for 1B. Maybe in a few years of tinkering he's Chris Carter? I wouldn't buy any of them unless it's a guy like Tellez or Rhys Hoskins if you can get him for next to nothing in fantasy. The next great MLB 1B will probably be some random failed 3B or OF or C prospect. Some f*** like Zack Collins or, dare I say, Christin Stewart. I'd still take AJ Reed over any of the hot 1B prospects right now. I think.

I saw Bird cheat to get to a couple of fastballs in the 2015 AFL. That's cheating, not skill. Fringe prospect for me.

Fans need to care more about having a robust 25 man and 40 man roster. I believe we saw two possibly competitive AA teams flounder at least in part because of fragility and rigidity at he MLB level

But if the pen has any issues and a big need arises they can always just pull the plug and call Biagini up. Having him try to start actually makes the 40 man roster more robust.

He threw 130 innings in both 2014 and 2015. They could go straight to like, 150 innings this year pretty safely. If he works as a starter just chuck him in the MLB pen when he gets there. If he's anything as a SP he's a 240 pound horse and innings are irrelevant anyway. Maybe you throw caution to the wind and just ride him into the arb3 graveyard.

If they don't stretch him out this season then they never will. Biagini is not some lights out, shut down, overpowering reliever. He's a middle of the road middle relief pitcher. Yeah he had a great 2016 but that home run rate was probably a mirage and his ERA should probably be closer to 4.00 than 3.00 in 2017, in relief. Toronto sending him to the AAA rotation for a bit is not an insurmountable hit to the bullpen.
