  1. It's not awesome! I'll add Barney as a low-upside guy. Also, it's important to note that the upper minors is still pretty thin. Particularly with starting pitchers - every depth guy who Toronto could realistically go to in 2017 sucks. Some of them suck A LOT. On the position side I suppose there are a few good options and the depth is probably average-ish. But man, that SP depth...
  2. They could have stashed him, in fact they did already assign him to the minors. This was outrighting him off the 40 to add Freeland. The Rockies are very dumb. I don't understand why they even targeted Castro if they were just going to throw him into a Colorado bullpen. Why not at least take one season to try to develop him as a starter?
  3. He has an option left. Great guy to stash in the minors, horrible guy to put in an MLB bullpen if the team is trying to win.
  4. Important to DFA players like this so they can pump 45 OFP Antonio Senzatela directly from limited AA experience to Coors f***ing field.
  5. Hard to see happening! But, this is the time of the year where it might.
  6. CoreDick with the first of many, many, many hits this year. Look for him to hit .280 with 30 dingers
  7. I wonder how much of this, if any, is interpersonal stuff. The players clearly love Goins - does that matter?
  8. Upton released. Bolsinger DFA'd. Osuna is hurt. Pompey is hurt. Goins makes team. Tepera makes team. Leone makes team. I want to die
  9. "Ovwa" = "Au Revoir" as attempted by Jason Grilli
  10. Bolsinger did not seem right this spring. He really doesn't have the stuff to pitch in relief... one of those weird guys who is perhaps more effective as a starter. I don't know if it made sense to keep him around in the bullpen.
  11. Who gives half a f*** about Buster Olney?
  12. They might still keep Upton. This could just be a feeler. And this FO is actually really good at explaining things, IMO. They are very forthcoming, especially compared to AA's gibberish PR philosophy.
  13. Yeah Pompey's concussion symptoms are sticking around. They're being very careful with him.
  14. Having to waive Bolsinger will really hurt the depth chart, if he doesn't clear.
  15. Any depth SP with a pulse and an option left would maybe suffice...

Not really! Ottawa is not a very good team. I don't think the Leafs are quite as strong as Boston or Montreal, all things considered.

suck farts Boston is arguably the best team in the Atlantic...
  18. Their fans just don't like him
  19. Yeah, some depth charts shrink as the season gets closer. Players get hurt, minor league players appear to not be ready, etc.
  20. Here is how this works... The Jays figure that the talent is about equal for all of their fringe position players (Zeke, Upton, Goins, Coghlan, others). This could include external players like Pagan. Of the players they could potentially cut, they think Upton probably is the one that might have some trade value. He does have the loudest tools, and if you squint (and ignore recent history) he's a solid 4th OF on paper. So, they tell teams that they are listening on him and/or they let it leak to an established reporter that he is on the bubble. Depending on what they can get, trading Upton might be better than keeping him and cutting another player.
