  1. Well the Castro/Osuna promotions were a desperation move by a GM who probably felt like he basically had to win or get fired. I would say, there is almost zero chance anything that aggressive would happen under a Shatkins team. I don't believe that Cleveland has historically been a very aggressive organization when it comes to development. SABER teams like CLE, TB, OAK, tend to take it slow. There aren't that many teams that have an aggressive approach with prospects and consistent development success, but perhaps TEX is one example.

Wait, that was a poor way to make the point. Hilarious that the Leaves sneak into the playoffs like this and get rewarded by possibly facing the worst team in the playoffs in Ottawa. It's as if the 6th and 7th seeds in the old system met in the first round, or something like that.
  3. that's humanly impossible! hot gun
  4. Sounds like Jesse Hahn before he became awful
  5. I don't think I have the onus of proof here
  6. literally just posted it so you would respond with something like that I'm creating an algorithm bot to troll you. This is research.

  8. Maybe they don't need a 5th SP until like, the 12th or something?

But why? Does Gary Bettman want to die even more alone than he already will?
  10. Cliff notes: - Vlad and Bo both skipping A- and going straight to Lansing (A). This is fairly aggressive. As a 1999 birthday Vlad could be the youngest hitter in the Midwest League. Bo should be one of the youngest, and he follows the age-level path of elite prospects Eloy Jimenez and Kyle Tucker, who both played in the league last year as 19 year olds. - Biggio and Zeuch both kind of skipping Lansing and going to Dunedin (A+). They had very brief stints in Lansing in 2016. - Conner Greene will pitch in AA for the third season in a row. - Adonys Cardona actually still exists!!!
  11. Bullpen'd tho Probably a win for Stras. Interesting to see how Washington uses the bullpen pieces.
  12. Trea Turner is annoyingly good. I just realized that I have this extremely amusing trade line that goes all the way back to our first prospect draft, and my awful horrible 1st round selection then... Zunino --> Anibal Sanchez --> Ryu --> D.Norris --> Urias --> Glasnow --> TreaTurner --> Puig --> Correa I picked Zunino 9th overall in that draft. Correa and Puig were the 18th and 35th selections. Norris was 118th. Urias and Glasnow were 22nd and 50th the following year. Turner was 22nd in 2014. The "victim" of the 4th swap was the benefactor of the 7th swap.
  13. Once a player is DFA'd the team has 10 days to trade, release, or waive/outright him (or, pull him back if claimed). I think they have to place the player on waivers within one week of the DFA, because the waivers process takes three business days. So it depends if they've waived him yet... if it was yesterday that they did waive him, then it should process Wednesday.
  14. No, it's a stylistic pause that emphasizes the at all.
  15. "Losing Jose Fernandez is tragic but having to watch Edinson Volquez every five days is a tragedy in and of itself. I feel so bad for Marlins fans..." When you write a post but intelligently hold off on clicking the button until the inning is over.
  16. "the simple fact" is that you aren't actually smart, at all.
  17. This is an absurdly arrogant statement.
  18. Gibby 2.0 is a good meme. Thumbs up.
  19. And he also owns McJesus and Stamkos, lmao. It was very satisfying to trade him Stamkos right before a season-ending injury and then win the league. The long con.
  20. Only in the most niche of circumstances... like, it's Sunday and you are tied in Runs and randomly Dusty Baker is hitting Michael A Taylor, who you own for some dumb reason, leadoff.
  21. Baseball is probably the most difficult major pro sport to play, mentally. I think the potential mental impact from jumping a 20 year old international free agent from low A ball to the big leagues is being understated WRT Castro. He spent most of 2014 in VANCOUVER. Not even Lansing! He had like, 170 total pro innings before making his MLB debut in 2015, and more than half of those literally came in Rookie ball. Before 2014, 73 out of his 90 pro innings actually occurred in the DOSL - in his home country!!!! So irrespective of the "nuts and bolts" development (command, consistency, offspeed pitches, etc.) his mental development was also seriously truncated. I'm not saying Miguel Castro was ruined by being rushed, but to downplay his being rushed is disingenuous. It's reasonable to think that if Miguel Castro had not been rushed, he would be set up for a much more effective and lucrative major league career at this point. If the Rockies had decided to send him to A+ or AA in 2016 to work as a starter and develop his profile, who knows what would have happened. But they didn't, so Miguel Castro was shaken, like a baby, for the second time. It's hard to recover from abuse like that. We can talk about things like this without talking in absolutes.
  22. Source: Keep your eyes and ears peeled for a potential "Barry Davis Podcast" in the near future. He's planning on recapping the Blue Jays and interacting with fans. Not very tech savvy though, so he needs help setting it up!
  23. Grilli almost certainly gets first crack
