    I think it's something like 120 PA. At that point it is 50% stable, so you regress halfway to league average. I was looking at Smith's information earlier and couldn't see any obvious change that would lead to such a massive increase in SwStr%

    I think it matters a bit. 2009 and 2016 are pretty spread out; having the back-to-back would let anyone argue with a solid basis that Pittsburgh was a real Dynasty.

    If Granderson had a good UZR with a strong batted ball profile and a high walk rate right now, then fine. But he's 36, the batted ball profile sucks, his walk rate is a career low, his defense has been declining for years, he doesn't steal bases anymore. There's a reason his projection for the rest of the season is so bad. You're not smarter than Steamer. So no. Not kind of like that.

    This should be a lesson for you in what type of stats are important when predicting future performance.

    Liriano's peripherals and stuff were fine. There was no indication that he had declined. The fact that he was under control for 2017 was a large benefit and probably the primary purpose of the trade. It was simply an awful trade by Pittsburgh.

    It's pretty close though. A ton of money for probably 0.5 projected WAR.

    That's a hard sell. Granderson really has nothing in common with those three buy-low players. He's expensive, old, and bad. Those three were only one or two of those traits when acquired.

    Hard to place much value on off-the-cuff blog blurbs. I would assume that the author has talked to people (scouts, org people) about Jansen but you never know.

    I don't know if there's a detailed scouting report out to the public. I've never read anything bad about his defense. I've also never read anything particularly glowing. He's probably average-ish. There doesn't seem to be any concern that he can't catch.
