I don’t know any of this because I don’t follow hockey in depth but I like to believe that Vegas being in first is a product of them exploiting the fact that most of the NHL is in the prehistoric age when it comes to sports analytics. Imagine getting in a time machine and running a baseball expansion draft in the 70s with the sabermetric knowledge that we have right now about what makes players good. How good do you think your team could be? Also- what do you homos think of Rick Nash these days? I’m having trouble seeing how he fits in Boston.

Yeah z3r0s I think we just start the season and people manually add their waiver picks as we go. Then when the draft is over I switch the free agency to rolling waivers or whatever and immediately back in order to put everyone on waivers.

Maybe the Rockies are still invested in that (stupid) Desmond @ 1B idea, and have Tapia tabbed for LF. Oh they also have Dahl. Tapia-Blackmon-Dahl-Parra in the OF makes Desmond the 1B. Yup.

The recent track record of high-level pitching prospects is atrocious. Julio Urias, Alex Reyes, Brent Honeywell, Anderson Espinoza... Even when it's not TJS it has been ugly for performance reasons. Glasnow, Giolito, De Leon, Reynaldo, Pint, Groome, more. It seems like Matz' injuries have been awful and Snell has really struggled to live up to the hype, but then you realize they have been like 80th percentile outcomes. PITCHERS -
Those are all mid rotation lads in our league I’ve actually gone after Leake a few times and been rebuffed

Matz is hard to evaluate. I agree that Grichuk's apparent value went up significantly after the trade to Toronto. I wanted Matz but I wasn't really comfortable offering more than two B- prospects. But it's Boxy so Matz will probably be a top 20 SP this year and Grichuk will hit .220
