  1. 1) that's not true 2) even if you use fWAR, the Jays leader would be Grichuk/Happ with an even lower number than 2.5 3) way to ignore the guy's point and undermine a decent, lengthy post that someone put together
  2. The one thing that I know for sure about Julian Merryweather is that he throws baseballs. It seems reasonably certain that at some time in the future, perhaps in 2019, we will see him throwing baseballs for the Toronto Blue Jays. That's something to look forward to IMO.
  3. Merryweather rocks. I expect pleasantly mediocre things from him.
  4. wow!
  5. This is the case whenever you trade for an elite veteran (in a balanced trade); you're pushing more assets and younger assets into one dude who is older. But without taking risks like that you're just never going to win in a 20 team dynasty league. And you're right, I was always going to jump off the Donaldson train if someone offered an appropriate return this offseason. After some brief deliberation I figured that Berrios + whatever else I could milk out of it would be appropriate so I took it while it was available. Keeping him was only really in the cards if the market was just ludicrously low.
  6. Not shocked by these reactions given the league's over-infatuation with youth but I'm only satisfied with the return. Donaldson isn't that old and he can probably still carry an entire fantasy offense. Berrios is a fine dynasty asset but he's been more of a fantasy SP3 the last two years. I was hoping to get a core bat, not an arm. Bird is just a throw-in. Not really expecting much. Groome is, I think, a good buy-low. Similar to Frazier in that the shine is completely gone but the upside might still be there.

Sounds cool to me A lot better than some baseball injuries like such as "fat pitcher out for season with grade 4 hamstring tear suffered while running the bases in a blowout in the rain" or "amazing generational pitcher out for 2 years with sudden career-killing arm injury because all of our pitching athletes are literally timebombs and nobody was meant biologically to do this like this"
  8. Poor John Berti. Baseball is so cruel.
  9. So fun as a deep baseball fan to see guys like Woodruff and Burnes deal in the playoffs. Turns out there IS such a thing as a pitching prospect!
  10. Not a single woman on that entire list, in 2018. smh
  11. Every Rockies fan on Twitter is celebrating Gray being left off. They despise the choke artist!
  12. Colorado just left him off the NLDS roster. Holy f***.

Toronto is obviously one of the most exciting teams in hockey. Probably the most exciting with Matthews + Tavares and the nature of the supporting cast. - Edmonton is always fun purely because of McJesus - San Jose will be a great time this year - Tampa is great - Pittsburgh is still exciting I guess, Crosby and Malkin Who else is even worth mentioning? I guess Winnipeg, and the first lines of Dallas and Boston.

wtf does this post even mean? "it won't be exciting" -- wtffff
  15. They took the same trade-based approach to the offense last year and ended up with Solarte, Grichuk, and Diaz. So... short and mid-term assets that range from awful to average. I wouldn't worry about the comments too much. They'll probably acquire some skidmark but also some good rotation pieces.
  16. Should have just left Rizzo in and lost 1-0 in regulation.
  17. He has the voice national broadcasters love but I've heard him say so many stupid things. Not a good feel for the game or the moments.
  18. I'm just happy you did something (anything).
  19. Can confirm that the champion picks 20th and then we sort by regular season record only (ignoring seeding). 13. The WAR Pigs 14. Taijuan On! 15. (insert clever name) 16. The New Matt Olsons 17. Ten-Cent Beer Night 18. Twist and Trout 19. London Slayers 20. Burrito Boyz People with editing privileges can also feel free to start inputting offseason rosters into the spreadsheet
  20. And you can't forget about veteran presents
  21. Moving on to Josh Donaldson... not going to auction him but please send me serious offers. I already have a couple.
  22. German Marquez became a near Ace this year and I didn't even notice.
  23. Yes. Yelich can still win the triple crown.
  24. I suppose I like Clint Frazier more than most people. I think some prospect fatigue has him undervalued right now but it still seems to me that the bat could be pretty solid in the modern MLB where baseballs go very far. Hopefully some playing time opens up for him. I've liked him since his draft year and have probably tried to acquire him a half dozen times.
  25. The age must have been a big turn off. Nobody seemed that hot for Votto
