    Nice to see that blue-collar grinder Chris Getz has gone to the management dark side and is now shilling for service time manipulating corporate cronies. Imagine clawing your whole career for service time and the league minimum, and then when you retire just betraying your brothers and union and outright lying about how ready Eloy Jimenez is for the majors so that the ownership side of baseball can get even fatter.

    Right. I just find it bizarre that every potential suitor in a playoff push - where marginal wins are worth many, many millions of dollars - would be turned off by $4M in a sport where teams routinely pay that much amateurs and bench players. But that does explain why he wouldn't be blocked by teams that just can't accommodate him at all on the roster.

    STL is rumoured to be interested. Any team competing with them for the WC would theoretically have nothing to lose and something to gain if they claimed him just to block STL. And they wouldn't be under any obligation to actually work out a deal and absorb the player or the salary. It's just obvious that we (I) do not have some piece of key information about the process. The claiming team must have some sort of obligation.

    It must contravene the rules in some way to make a bad faith claim - if you have no intention to actually negotiate in good faith for the player. But still, what would a likely interested team like STL have to lose by claiming him?

    I'll never really understand WHY certain players do and do not clear August waivers. It should be very likely that a deal will come together now. Hard to imagine them not getting something at least comparable to the QO compensation.

    lol @ ALDS reunion they pissed on Goinsy too this front office has been a PR disaster. robotic and cold. bleeding fans and losing any connection with the players. tsk tsk all hope for the fans and franchise is firmly attached to a teenager (Vladdy) that Shatkins inherited rather than acquired. pathetec

    Don't worry, your body is completely evolved to digest meat with 100% efficiency. After you switch to a carnivore diet you'll never s*** again. It's pretty convenient.

    They can also just QO the douche (seriously though, make it a term of his contract that he has to start eating meat again) and then endeavor to dump him at the first demonstration of semi-consistent health in the early months, to the first team that offers an A- prospect, even eating some of the future money to do it. They can think of it as purchasing a prospect! Even if all they get is a prospect at the back-end of the top 100, that prospect is probably worth $15-20 million on paper. Like if LAA said right now - they'll give Toronto Griffin Canning for $10M cash money... Toronto probably says sure.

    Just QO the man. He had a 150 wRC+ in 2017 for f***s sake and was worth 5 WAR as a neutral defender. $20M for one year of his services is a steal. Unless the team legit wants to tank to the bottom in 2019, which is fine too I guess.

    There's a difference between being a swinger and being a hacker. We'll see but I don't get any sense than Bo is a hacker. A 4% BB rate is Pillar territory, which would be extremely disappointing and really make no sense based on the information. Bo smells more like the type whose BB% might go up in the MLB when the focus is more about winning the game that day and less about refining your swing and developing your mechanics etc.

    I don't know if it's fair to bin Bo as a "low bb guy". His rate is probably pretty close to average.

    Not bad but it's hard to predict how the defense, power, and contact will actually play in the MLB for Bo. I'm expecting him to be somewhere along the spectrum of Castro, Addision Russell, or Chris Taylor. Russell might be the best comp IMO. I think if he's worse than those players it will be disappointing. I think he could maybe be better if it all works out.

    It's just so hard to predict where he will land in terms of MLB production. I think there is a lot of variance in the possibilities. I think the proper way to interpret his 2018 is maybe to temper expectations of his ceiling but to raise his floor expectations a little bit.

    Everything that Bo has lost this year in terms of hit/power he seems to have made up with respect to speed and defense. He is *nearly* leading the EL in 2B, 3B, and SB, which is pretty nuts for a guy who was visibly fat in high school and pegged as a 3B/LF by some evaluators. Obviously the slash line isn't eye popping but his season is still objectively awesome for a 20 year old SS prospect in that league. It's just maybe not top 10 prospect in baseball awesome? I dunno.
