  1. I was just trying to find some quick decline comparisons for Stanton and was looking at McGwire's page. The steroid era was f***ing bonkers. Of McGwire's last 4 seasons, ages 34-37, his very last 2 were basically half years. He hit 32 and 29 homers in those years, after 70 and 65 the two years prior. So in the twilight of his career Mark McGwire was hitting dingers at roughly a SIXTY-FIVE (65) HOME RUN PER 650 PLATE APPEARANCE PACE!!!!
  2. I guess it's nice to get anything for cuts at this point, but these picks Org is getting are about one pube from worthless. (this is to Spanky)
  3. There used to be three drafts. Observe with awe as I Google this and paste something below!
  4. The top 3 in the draft all look really solid. All much better than Joey Bart.
  5. I agree with you. It really seems like Pillar does not believe the last group of Blue Jays veterans were great leaders. His "it's just the overall way about guys..." line really seems like a dig at their general attitudes. I mean we know that Donaldson was a douche. I could see Tulowitzki being stuck up. Bautista was Bautista. It always seemed a bit cliquey to me.

Yes, a really "fun" 75 point team.
  7. Strange! I don't think there is any precedent for that many years with an AAV that low. Is there?
  8. International spending requires an entire infrastructure that Baltimore is probably only starting to put into place.
  9. Looks like everyone has added their players on Yahoo! except for FEATHERD. I have not counted to see if everyone is at 20 players. If you added a few more on Yahoo! because you weren't sure who your cuts were, just remember to drop your cuts before the end of the month. Your 20 dudes on Yahoo as of March 1 are your confirmed 20 keepers. NO exceptions unless I am in a good mood (rare). I see at least 2 minor league rosters that still need attention as well - TCA and Orgfiller. I have not checked every MiLB player to see if there are any forced promotions, but remember that if you miss it and keep a prospect down who is over the cutoff, they are waiver draft eligible! Remember "The Jake Lamb Rule".
  10. It's hard to even think of a worse comp for Biggio
  11. Jose Iglesias signing a minor league deal is insane.

Still zero idea what goes into their ratings. I could guess that "Game Score" and "WAR" do but what the f*** do those even mean in hockey? How do they turn them into a rating? Why is "stacking" good? NAKED ANALYTICS CAN GTFO MY LAWN!

What is this supposed to be? I see numbers without any context or explanation.
  14. He has lice Apparently he picked them up in the aptly named Licey

Oh did he get good? I was just going off recent memory, being the last couple of years. Seemed like he turned into a bit a of a disappointment.

A steal for Columbus? Duchene kind of sucks, man.
  17. Yes, their farm probably does give their 2019 roster a lot of upwards (good) variance. The opposite would maybe be something like the 2014 or 2017 Blue Jays, where the core team might be good on paper but a severe lack of quality depth means that the downwards variance is pretty real. The Padres have an interesting problem with their farm, where they basically might have too many prospects to use internally. They kind of have to trade prospects. Honestly a Stroman deal makes so much sense. San Diego has pitching depth but probably needs someone with experience who can maybe be a solid #3 or a bit more. Any projected win that SD adds for 2019 has pretty massive value at this point; trading for Stroman probably increases their projection to 83 wins, at which point they are just one breakout away from the playoffs.

Well the Seguin pick was close. I know the 1980 NHL draft had picks 1, 3, and 4 moved in trades from previous years. Three hall of famers ended up going in the top 6. Looking it up now - in 1976 the Colorado Rockies traded to Montreal the right for Montreal to swap first round picks in the 1980 draft, in exchange for Ron Andruff and Sean Shanahan (two players on Montreal's AHL team). Colorado ended up being awful in 79 so Montreal swapped picks. They then passed on Coffey, Larry Murphy, and Denis Savard and took Doug Wickenheiser 1-1. hahahahaha

Can a franchise even come back from trading their first round pick and then finishing dead last? I don't think so. At the very least, that's a 10 year kiss of death. Ottawa and Edmonton are so profoundly sad.
  20. No, but from your perspective it would have been more accurate to say: "I felt like Randy Smith watching Ruben Amaro and Dave Stewart negotiating a trade in real time."
