    Seems like a bit of a raw deal for Peralta. I don't know if he really gained anything; he gets that money in all likelihood even if he has a pedestrian season. But this extension kills his chance at a much richer contract, and this guy has two 4 win seasons on his resume.

    They won't use him as a post-opener. Glasnow has been used in that role by Tampa Bay in part because of his early career struggles; with Pittsburgh Glasnow looked like a SP bust and he was being resigned into a pure relief role. Toronto is going to hope that Nate Pearson is a Power Horse MLB SP a la Syndergaard, Cole, etc. and they will develop him like that to the point of failure.

    Actually true. There is perhaps no better organization in the sport right now. Pretty unfortunate to not have won another stanley cup during this decade.

    It probably already has been a discussion and is part of the reason they went after Shaw vs. some of the statues available. They'll wait for a political correct opportunity to do it, like when Vlad is nursing a sore calf or something like that.

    No. I'm not going to look it up but the longest tenured Miami Marlin is probably Brian Anderson or someone that they drafted in or around like 2014.

    It sounds like Toronto may have indicated to Shaw that he would be an everyday player. I don't think he will platoon from the start but it may end up that way.

    Fangraphs' Astros prospect list came out today and old friend Cal Stevenson made the cut, barely. Can't believe they had to include this fourth outfield type of prospect in the Sanchez trade!!!

    His agent did really well. Minor league deal for 2018, minor league deal for 2019, no appreciable skill change to this point but they were able to leverage some luck and ERA results (and postseason results) into $11M. Actually for 2017 he had signed an identical 2/$11M deal that was obviously dead-money by the end of the year. Pitt dumped him off to Tampa who cut him in March 2018. This one might turn out the same!
