  1. Castillo could be worth more than Torres I suppose. Way better in 2020.
  2. Padres will regret that one. Musgrove is overrated and Hudson Head is going to be very good. I know the Padres have managed to hold onto many of their very top prospects through all this, other than Patino, but guys like Head and Hunt are very solid spects and with so many names out the door there will be other guys who turn into all stars. Padres have to win now. They are affecting their farm more than people admit. It will take a while to restock the depth.
  3. https://www.fangraphs.com/depthcharts.aspx?position=Team I'm not saying they don't need to sign an infielder but I just don't think they need to go crazy to land someone impactful. It's not a dire need to me because of positional flexibility and Skinny Vlad. CF, SP, RP are bigger issues IMO. I very much disagree with this idea that Biggio can't play 3B because his arm is weak. He'd be absolutely fine there.
  4. No they are not. SS and 2B are locked down, Groshans and Martin are on the way to fill 3B, Tellez and Vlad can play 1B, the team has 69 catchers, and maybe skinny Vlad can even pass at 3B for one year. The team needs a stop-gap infielder at the most. It can be someone who plays any of SS/2B/3B because Bo and Biggio can move around. There's not a dire need for anything. Worst case Ontario just give Brad Miller or Jake Lamb or someone like that a few million bucks to cover 3B in 2021.
  5. Springer reminds me of Jayson Werth when he signed his big Washington contract. Take from that what you will... Werth had a couple of solid seasons with Washington but I really don't think Toronto missing on Springer should be seen as a travesty, especially if it will take 6 years to land him. Players his age tend to decline precipitously!
  6. Toronto is in a great spot. Kloffenstein could explode this year too, based on some of the info from his time in that independent league. Couple other guys in the system that could make a 2022 top 100 as well.

lmao "rent free"? you are the one who seems rattled, bud
  8. Okay buddy You might want to check Bregman's primary position Martin and him have the same tools, more or less
  9. I haven't seen Rosenthal linked to anybody. He might be asking too much - he has a bad season and a lost season within the last three years. I wouldn't exactly be targeting him
  10. I'd be satisfied at 3+ WAR but for a 70 hitter with power and athleticism that's not the upper end of my expected outcomes (whatever that even means). I think 3-4 WAR is the expected talent level but the chance of him being an elite player is very real and not just some 95th percentile thing.
  11. Austin Martin's upper range is Alex Bregman...
  12. They brought Kirk up in 2020 because he is advanced and the team was in it. Of course they'll bring up Martin and anyone if the circumstances dictate.
  13. 28 teams in baseball give Kluber that contract. Kluber basically picked the org he wanted to play for in 2021. It's good to be the Yankees...
  14. small differences early in arb can = bigger differences later in arb
  15. Probably just need some minor league rules like the LOD: 2.2 Minor League Rosters 2.2.1 There is a max of 15 minor league players. This limit can never be exceeded. 2.2.2 Players are eligible for the minor league roster if they are currently in the minor leagues. 2.2.3 Players can be moved from the major league roster to the minor league roster (demoted) if the player is currently in the minor leagues. Another minor league player may have to be dropped before a demotion can occur to keep the roster at 15 or less. 2.2.4 Players that have have been previously demoted (2.2.3) and are back in the major leagues in real life, are required to be added to the Major League roster (recalled) within 14 days of their first MLB game since their demotion. Players that are not recalled within 14 days will be dropped to the free agent pool. There will be no such restrictions on roster composition after August 31st. ... 2.2.6 Prospects that are called up to the MLB and play in an MLB game have to be added to your MLB roster (promoted) by the beginning of the following season.
  16. This was the lottery system ^ Playoff teams weren't in the lottery. The 12 non-playoff teams from 2020 were subject to a weighted lottery using 2019+2020 win percentage
  17. Wow, massive improvement now. It will be very interesting to see how this new body affects everything. It's clear he has mostly been on a weight loss program, so it's possible he has lost some strength along with the fat. Sprint speed up? Launch angle up? Top end power down? The 3B position is awkward now. They might give thin Vlad one last chance at it with his new body. But they need quality insurance at the position if they do.
  18. No. Learn to read. I said pretty clearly you shouldn't compare the two
  19. The 2 extra years probably don't matter because there is a 90% chance DJL is washed up by then. It's a fair contract. There are morons in this thread acting like the Yankees got him for a song though, and I'm worried someone like saskjaysfan might hurt himself this evening.
  20. If you want to force a comp for DJL you use someone like Jose Bautista - another guy who had something really click later in their career. Jays were wise to never give Bautista his mega-extension and his last good year ended up being his age 34 season. Decent chance the Yankees are paying $90M for ~3 more good years from DJ and the Yankees know it. If they get lucky he's still useful once his skills start to erode but he is a slapdick player so he might just pull a hard Daniel Murphy and cease being good at like 33. Please recognize this you f***ing idiots.
  21. Honestly wtf are you even talking about DJ got less guaranteed money than an older player who had a far superior track record but recent injury problems. Why is it even a comparison? Very different players and circumstances "On pace" for an 8 win season doesn't mean much from 2020
  22. Josh Donaldson is/was better... like, way better for a long time. Not sure if you remember this but he won the MVP and had an 8 WAR season and stuff.
  23. Because they are stupid
  24. We don't know if they even really wanted most of these players. It's not "coming in 2nd" if you only have a passing interest and then agents decide to pretend you are #2 to increase demand for their client.
  25. Last time the Jays got in there quick they got stuck with Kendrys Morales
