    I think a lot of that rapid change in status was ignorance from not getting to see what Manoah could have done in 2020. No stats. From what we've seen this year, in a normal 2020 he is probably absolutely nuking A+ and AA and sliding into top 25 prospect status.

    I don't accept that Nate Pearson has strike throwing issues. He has in small sample sizes but I think it is mostly due to inconsistent pitching schedules because of his injuries. Now he does have obvious injury problems. He is still a guy who has barely pitched in the majors but dominated the minors, when healthy. Everyone is right in this thread. Pearson higher upside but Manoah might be the better prospect because his upside is pretty close and he's much likelier to hit it. Manoah is Lance Lynn, I've always said it.

    The Royals aren't that bad. They have a good number of high upside young arms (Singer, Lynch, Bubic, Lacy, Kowar) and Bobby Witt Jr. on the way. Also some watchable talent on the real team this year. They remain annoying to play and I don't think that is changing any time soon.

    Maybe, but it goes both ways. It would change the game dramatically that's for sure. There are certain pitches that clip the zone but never get called strikes right now (think a huge hammer curve, you can basically throw one that hits the zone but then hits the dirt).

    No, the penalty will prevent frivolous challenges. If you challenge a borderline strike 2 call and you were wrong, then it's automatic strike three and you've taken the bat out of your own hands. Players will likely only challenge the really bad calls. I think. I mean you trial it in AAA first anyway.

    Here is my new solution to the ump vs. robo-ump problem 1: Get the tech to the point where it is laser accurate like in tennis line calls 2: Let the pitcher and the batter challenge umpire ball/strike calls but they have to do it INSTANTLY, like within five seconds, and the umpire can refuse a challenge if they think the player took a signal from the dugout 3: If the pitcher/batter loses the challenge they get an extra ball/strike against them! 4: If that pitch already decided the plate appearance by walk or strikeout there would have to be a different consequence. One penalty for being wrong is a ball/strike penalty against the next plate appearance for the team. Another option is that all PA deciding calls are just automatically reviewed by the robot. This would work swimmingly if and only if the technology can do this muy rapido

    I am bullish on Chatwood. He has always had exceptional spin and secondary pitches but the constant attempts to make him a good starter had him focusing on non-reliever traits. He has always seemed like a guy who was one tweak away from being very good. I think this K% is mostly legit. If the league adjusts we might see his BB% double though, so there could be some regression. Quick glance - he is throwing A LOT more cutters this year.
