  1. Hahahahaha what in idiot. Pulls back the curtain entirely for the local rotary club
  2. Disgusting. If the Yankees are going to employ German, they might as well go sign Osuna. Go full evil empire. I mean why not?
  3. New details emerge in Yankees' Domingo Germán's domestic violence incident By Lindsey Adler New details have emerged in MLB's investigation into New York Yankees pitcher Domingo Germán's domestic abuse incident, sources tell The Athletic. In September 2019, Germán and his girlfriend attended a charity gala held by then-teammate CC Sabathia. Many of Germán’s 2019 teammates were also there with their families. Germán slapped his girlfriend at the event, sources said, but the MLB investigation focused primarily on what happened at his home later that night. According to multiple league sources, including a person with knowledge of the MLB investigation, Germán was intoxicated and became physically violent toward his girlfriend until she hid in a locked room. The victim is said to have contacted the wife of another Yankees player, and the couple drove to Germán’s home late at night. The victim remained with the teammate’s wife, while the player attempted to calm down Germán, who is said to have been angry and belligerent. The incident was reported to MLB by a different member of the Yankees staff, whom Germán’s girlfriend had told about it. The victim did not call law enforcement, so there is no police report from the night of the assault. Germán is set to return this spring following an 81-game suspension under the league's domestic violence policy. As pitchers and catchers reported for spring training earlier this week, Yankees reliever Zach Britton was asked about Germán. “Sometimes you don’t get to control who your teammates are,” Britton said. “That’s the situation.”
  4. Lucky Rockies owner.
  5. You don't own any of these things¿????????
  6. He'll get better offers. The one week auction was just too long.
  7. No but the penalties are pretty harsh. One time = lengthy suspension. Multiple times = kicked out of the league.
  8. Gio side. He's the best player, and I don't think it's close.
  9. What are the hitting stats?
  10. A state of the art facility is going to help land top or preferred talent in free agency, so you should care a bit.
  11. Top SP remaining by projected WAR Odorizzi 1.7 Porcello 1.5 Leake 0.9 Hamels 0.7 Bailey 0.6 So really just two half-decent options unless you find a dead cat bounce possibility from Hamels or Bailey attractive. Decent chance at this point that one of Odo or Porcello signs for f***ing peanuts though.
  12. I dunno, it's not that hard. "This is the equivalent of 1/$10M to you but we have a payroll limit and have to offer it like this"
  13. Why did you say you "raised the idea" though?
  14. Not much more to add. Signed for $1.5M in 2019 then immediately had TJS. I would guess they need to see him in spring before deciding. If they view him as a pure relief prospect then AA could be where he starts. He is 23, so not particularly young, and he has pro experience in Cuba. They might even send him to AAA to relieve. The AAA season is starting earlier. If they think he can start then AA might be a bit aggressive.
  15. Link shows someone else raising the idea, Jim.
  16. If Gurriel can't play 3B and any of Bo/Semien/Biggio get hurt, Panik or Espinal becomes a starter or Vlad is bleeding runs at 3B again. If Gurriel can just play an okay 3B then if any of those three get hurt Grichuk becomes a starter. It might actually be a big benefit. Grichuk >>> Panik or Espinal.
  17. tidbit from Kevin Goldstein on Manoah: "I thought Manoah was the best pitcher in the 2019 draft, and frankly it wasn’t close." now that might not be saying much. i think only Lodolo went before Manoah.
  18. Gurriel has been taking groundballs at 3B, eh....
  19. Ah I was going to say the same thing. Not MikeM but remember playing with Cyborg? Yeesh.
  20. For sure. There are fist fights in my mens league ball hockey league. Give men anything round and bouncy and they will compete and try to win.
  21. I think Tatis and Mejia are their only successful publicized players. They are basically just running models and projecting WAR. They might have other players in the big leagues right now, bound by confidentiality. The SI article on Big League Advance from 2018 mentions them signing up an A's pitcher with really good stats in A ball... I wonder who that was.
  22. Agents have a deal directly with the players, so it depends on the player-agent contract. MLB is not allowed to pay agents directly. Generally the player will pay his agent after he receives salary. Sometimes this is an annual lump sum and sometimes it is a few installments per year, depending on the player-agent contract. Acuna could fire his agent today and hire Jay Z but the agent who negotiated the $100M contract likely still gets his cut going forward as Acuna is paid, based on the terms of the player-agent contract.
  23. I hear some salty Jays fans crawling this way...
  24. It's Grichuk vs. Tellez at the plate.
