  1. I still feel good. Not expecting to win tonight, but there is always a 30% chance in baseball. Game 5 Toronto would have the edge. Rogers Centre. A good SP going.
  2. He was a spin doctor before he got hurt. Now his breaking balls aren't even there. It's not Shane Bieber.
  3. They made this plan to use Varland as the opener in game 4 before the series started, and they haven't given themselves any other options on the roster, really (other than Lauer as a normal starter). It's definitely suspect after what happened last night and the Yankees are going to be swinging for the fences.
  4. I think they wanted to leave Santander in for one more PA. Making a defensive swap for Straw in the 3rd would have been a bit bold. They should have done it. By the time Santander got that extra PA (the 5th) the game was tied. 6-1 with a 90% win probability, should have went all defense from then on even if it was the 3rd inning.
  5. I guess there is that remote possibility that Lauer fools them, crafty lefty style, for 3+ innings in the middle of the game and that is a difference maker. Cannot start Santander or IKF, that s*** was embarrassing. Barger I don't blame much for that missed catch.
  6. Hard to see Toronto winning today unless Cam Schlitts his pants. Bullpen game and New York has seen every reliever, recently, some multiple times. If the Jays win it will need to be like 9-7 lol
  7. timeout so we can all read this sentence out of context
  8. Yes they all project to suck tbh so just go with the infield D
  9. Yes lol Do you go back and think that it's a shame the 2015 and 2016 teams even made the playoffs?
  10. Seriously how the f*** did Ben Bird have such a good season when he literally can't make contact on offspeed pitches?
  11. Most fans' idea of "playoff magic" = a game 7 walkoff win Our idea of "playoff magic" = run differentialing the Yankees 45-8 in a three game series
  12. I am excited to see Greg Bird Ben Rice whiff at 10 straight changeups again.
  13. He is a weird guy to evaluate on stuff Until mid 2021 he threw 93/94 and could touch 95+. He might have started to hurt late in 2021 (velo graph). Then in 2022 pre-injury Bieber (PIB) began and his velo went down a tick and the stuff went with it. This version of Bieber is similar to PIB but there are a few important differences: Better fastball now 94 Stuff+ vs 87 Stuff+ Worse slider and curve now (85 and 92 Stuff+ vs 95 and 104 Stuff+) Better changeup now (103 Stuff+ vs 76) PIB was surviving on good breaking balls and good command. Post TJS Bieber has some velo back, and a better change, and good command, but he does not have his PIB breaking balls! The Bieber who existed until 2021 is gone forever. The velo is not coming back. But if he can find that knuckle curve again, he could be Ace(ish). If he never finds his spin again, this could be more of Merrill Kelly or Zac Gallen experience in the future.
  14. I have spent so much time since Saturday on the Yankees message boards and listening to Yankees podcasts It's glorious stuff
  15. 2025 Rodon v Toronto 2 GS 10 IP 11 H 6 R 4 ER 0 HR 8 BB 8 K PEDESTRIAN
  16. It's ridiculous. If they really wanted to stagger the AL and NL they should have gone with no off day between the WC and DS for one of the sides and started their DS on Friday the 3rd. The Dodgers had to go through the WC round and they still have been able to shrink their staff to three SP and like, 3 RP.
  17. Odds are probably something like: Today - 43% Jays to win (on the road vs. Rodon) Tomorrow - 40% Jays to win (bullpen game on the road vs. Schlittler) So the Yankees odds to win both are like 34% Point being - Jays will be dogs for these two New York games but they don't need to win them both. Just need one big game from the offense or from the pitching staff. Bieber could dominate. Yankees need everything to go right. Jays just need one thing to go right (or wrong, for the Yankees). Rodon is not an Ace anymore. His velo did decline slowly over 2025. He's a solid SP2 but command can wobble and he's not exactly dominant.
  18. I listened to that Fried interview. Dude definitely implied something. He said his stuff was good and he was hitting his spots and the Jays were just on all his pitches.
  19. Hilarious that Varsho had a top 15 all time playoff game for a hitter and it's the #3 story from yesterday
  20. Legit should have went old school and started Yarbrough Probably would have received 5 innings, 3 or 4 runs.
  21. Hoffman, Dominguez, Y Rod, Little, Fisher, Varland, Fluharty, Nance They might be able to go the whole game without using Lauer or Bruihl. Just need someone to go 2 innings. Or 2 guys to split 3 innings.
  22. I literally can't find a good comp for him or his slider on statcast You can sort by arm angle and see a bunch of guys who throw way over the top, but all of them seem to get more standard movement on their sliders, even if it's just a few inches glove side, and they commonly also have cutters, sweepers, curves. You can sort by slider movement and most of the guys who throw stuff that all moves to the right are guys who throw from 3/4 or much lower. Devin Williams, Jose Urena, these guys have sub 30 degree arm angles. Really hard to find a good comp. You just end up on random imperfect comps like 2024 Zach Plesac or Dauri Moreta or something.
