  1. The entertainment value of hyperbole aside... It was always at least conceivable that rankings bias was causing people to underrate Toronto's farm system for a window of time in 2023. Hopefully all of the pop up relief pitching and some of these position players in AAA will stick right away. It would be a HUGE boon to Toronto's mid to long term competitive outlook to have, say, two starting quality position players, a few good relievers, and maybe a backend SP all in AA/AAA right now. Between Barger, Schneider, Orelvis, Palmegiani, Leo Jimenez, Horwitz, Juenger, Zulueta, Pearson, Danner, Cooke, Fluharty, Tiedemann, Burnette.... maybe they have that all in the queue.
  2. It probably already has
  3. Isn't this just good evidence supporting the idea that they should go on a run? RISP splits are probably noise The bases empty number would be much closer to true talent
  4. Imagine thinking that Toronto has a small compete window when Schneider, Barger, Horwitz and Orelvis are all on the cusp
  5. He was an absolute fantasy stud for many years
  6. Great hit tool Mediocre pitch recognition The annoying thing is that at time his pitch recognition has seemed better. But, swing decisions have always been one of his issues.
  7. Gausman strugggggling Flaherty is going to shut us out isn't he
  8. okay that makes more sense still like 850 calories in just rice i guess if you are running triathlons and stuff it can work i would explode like a poisoned seagull though
  9. I am sorry did you just say 4 cups of rice FOUR CUPS OF RICE!?
  10. Barger/Orelvis/Schneider give them incredible AAA depth So yeah maybe just some crusty old veterans
  11. Yeah his lack of patience is the one obvious difference from 2021
  12. Wonder if the cancer and treatment somehow contributed to the major injury
  13. Really he's just a massive upgrade on Espinal for the rest of the year
  14. must win game.
  15. I don't think it's a team-wide philosophy thing Each player seems to have specific issues Vlad - same old spray angle and GB% problems Kirk - lost his power stroke for a while + some basic growing pains Springer - is old and losing bat speed, I guess? I dunno. Varsho - mechanical flaws with swing + some poor basic tools
  16. He DOES fall into that bin But the wrinkle is that he always has to some degree and in prior years he has not been an xwOBA underperformer So... I dunno. Is the new home park killing his CF flyballs? Is he fatter and slower than ever and that's part of it? Was he just getting lucky by NOT underperforming his xwOBA in prior years? Should we just stfu and buy Guerrero Jr. jerseys and start cheering for him?
  17. His Angels debut was against Toronto
  18. why do you keep posting this selfie
  19. I dunno. I know his xwOBA this year is better than last year and his profile looks solid in most ways. Maybe it's bad luck, maybe it's the new home park dimensions. But offense aside he's still hitting bottom of the barrel talent projections when it comes to baserunning and defense. He is probably one of the stupidest baserunners in the game. He's just not a special talent and it seems obvious. The offense may still project well but it's highly subject to BABIP risk because of his swing tendencies. His peers are like... late career JD Martinez, Josh Bell, and Rowdy Tellez.
  20. The slumps that these players are in go far beyond bad starts or random variation. In my opinion. Something is f***ing wrong with these guys. Springer is just old. Kirk is going through a young player adjustment (I think he will be fine, eventually). Vlad might just kind of f***ing suck? It's unfortunate but there is a huge career sample now and most of it is problematic. I just disagree with leaffie's one sentence saying "if they manage to get close to career norms, this is not a winning team." of course if Kirk and Springer get close to career norms the team is much better. Vlad's career norm on the other hand is pretty mediocre all things considered.
  21. Reds are in first place They did nothing Check out Ben Lively's line tonight
  22. Not really. Just the isolated decision to not replace him at second base that one time
