  1. Better question: How does a 6'2" 16 year old that sits low 90s, touching 95, only get 300k?
  2. The new spreadsheet really helps. Probably my best idea ever, in anything. I'm thinking we'll track prospects on it during the season instead of in the commissioner's note on Yahoo. JW, does anybody download the spreadsheet every once in a while for offline viewing, so we have a backup in case Google gets blown up by extremists terrorists or PETA or something?

Was Stamkos going to play wing? I wonder if they'll just dress poopy Carter and make Stamkos' replacement immaterial. Obvious Giroux is the obvious choice, obviously.

Ah, f***. I wonder who replaces him.
  5. The rule 5 money flip (allowed this signing) and the patient offseason (if he ends up buying some wins!) make me wonder if AA is done being dumb. I guess we'll find out kind of soon.
  6. I bet it would be near 50%. Some pitchers could hit that zone often enough to get him out. What's knees to waist on a 2 foot person, 6-9 inches maybe? Maybe the greatest hitter ever, but they would probably get forced out at 2nd on almost every single, so they might end up not even being that great offensively.
  7. Do I have to share an office with him though?
  8. I feel like it's a fools errand to even try to project playing time. Just give everybody 600 PA, 180 (or 65) IP, and let people scale it up and down on their own if they want. I don't really think past time played or missed is nearly as informative about future time played or missed as ppl think. Maybe it would make sense to slightly scale back proj playing time as age increases. I dunno. I just feel like systems act like they know more about injury risk than they really do when they try to predict playing time. Injuries are largely random - accept it, nerds.
  9. Who's this Yoon guy? Pacific import obviously. How hard does he throw?
  10. Sign: Aaron Harang Acquire: Kevin Frandsen Trade: Mike Nickeas dream big!
  11. Kevin Towers is good. Here are some reasons why: Cliffs: "trading Kelly Johnson for Aaron Hill AND John McDonald" (note the emphasis on AND) "getting Brad Ziegler for (snigger) Brandon Allen and Jordan Norberto" (franchise changing) "dumping Chris Young and getting the cheaper, better Cliff Pennington back" (better?)
  12. He's a saber dogmatist to the core, but at least he plays it fast and loose with his numbers. There's nothing worse than a creepy crawly saber buddy who's always unsure of himself, qualifying every statement with a "possibly", "probably", "maybe", etc. (see: Dave Cameron, Me).
  13. Disagree. JPA goes oppo quite a bit. His HR park factor wouldn't be the same as the typical RHB HR park factor that you see on Fangraphs Guts page. (You filthy saber dogmatist.)
  14. Spanky, I think you need to go see a doctor.
  15. .270/.320/.400 This is the year!
  16. They'd have to love both players. I'm not particularly fond of either of them. I see Paxton as a probable RP with an erratic #3 ceiling. I think Chicago probably has their mind on something shinier. Although, Franklin is probably half way there. Not far off. Franklin-Paxton-Saunders for Shark and a reliever? I dunno. I think Chicago only moves Shark right now for an overpay in the Latos/Shields realm.
  17. On a corner I suppose. Deal Smoak, LoMo at first and Hart at DH. Ackley as bench depth. Bury Montero behind the backfield during spring and hope no-one asks questions.
  18. Probably none. Maybe some of the guys in competitions will show up. E.g., Jose Veras, Rex Brothers, Astros garbage, Putz.
  19. I know. You've said that like five times. Wait, how many prospects are you taking?
  20. The Rule 5 for us is basically going to be 75% holds dudes.
  21. These are my probable cuts. Feel free to sift through my trash: Zach McAllister Bud Norris Logan Morrison Welington Castillo Ryan Doumit Neal Cotts Jesse Crain Jason Hammel Joel Peralta Felipe Paulino Charlie Blackmon Jose Alvarez Might keep Bud, LoMo, or Castillo though. Still not 100% decided on spots 19/20.
