  1. How hard does Tanaka throw? I remember reading that he has like, a 70 splitter and a 60 slider. I think I read 90-91 mph, but that could mean a lot of things. Maxing out at 91/92, or sitting 90/91 and touching 96?
  2. We can all agree that average is a dubious at best measurement of a hitter's production. We can all agree that RBI count is basically meaningless. But the TRIPLE CROWN still matters, simply because it's the TRIPLE f***ING CROWN. It's amazing that even fairly smart people who soundly accept #1 and #2 still put MVP level significance in #3 just because it's a rarity.
  3. Just in case anyone was starting to think that Sabermetrics were finally becoming the mainstream lens through which to view baseball.... there's this annual/perennial LoLfest.
  4. So we're settling for "comfortable"? Kawasaki can play shortstop but he's average at best. The range isn't plus and the arm is noodley. They both can't hit enough to matter. If Goins can pick it at short, then he's my bench infielder. But it's not even an either-or scenario. They could sign or trade for a bench IF better than both of them. None of this really matters. Nothing we post in this thread matters. Actually, nothing we post on this website matters. Furthermore, WE don't matter. *ceases to exist* ***sound of gentle blowing wind***
  5. It's possible. If Goins was following a mint 2B like Pedroia, would he look totally average? It's like those optical illusions with colours. e.g. Both of these dogs are the same colour, but the backgrounds make one look blue and the other look yellow: http://brainden.com/images/yellow-blue-dogs.jpg
  6. Hill was an easy plus defender for his first 3 or 4 years in Toronto. Dude was really, really good for a long time. Goins has looked good for 2 weeks. Definitely not a fair comparison yet. Certainly seems like Goins can play a plus 2nd base though. All this would mean of course is that you might want him as the 25th man in 2014 instead of someone like Kawasaki. I want to see Goins at short.
  7. I think me-BTS will be a coinflip. I have the offensive edge in terms of season totals 6-1, but Wright is on the DL. He has the pitching edge in terms of season totals 6-1, but Harvey is dead. Also, Doubront might have lost his rotation spot and Danny Salazar is on a really stupid pitch count. I should get a 2 start week from Scherzer, but he should get a Felix vs. Houston K binge. The Butt Stallions will get lucky. Always do.
  8. They are very similar, in terms of production: http://www.fangraphs.com/graphsw.aspx?players=9893,6368 Jones is a bit more consistent maybe, probably because he has a better hit tool.
  9. Look at the hivemind in action http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_aiHDgCOlHjI/S_SKSrXppwI/AAAAAAAAB_g/13gnh8HKq84/s200/here-come-bees.jpg
  10. He's pretty good man. Not a genius or anything, but compared to his colleagues he actually seems fairly cerebral, even if he's still waist deep in a lot of old school baseball BS. And he's got a solid voice, which you can't really say for Buck or Tabby. Not sure how they even got into broadcasting in the first place... oh yeah, it's an old boy's club.
  11. GDP per capita Canada: 52,232 US$ DR: about 10 or 11 chickens
  12. That must be one smart and dextrous donkey!
  13. Well now that's just racist. For f***s sake sakjayfan, this is a tolerant community.
  14. You're a benign tumor...
  15. Not a terrible idea. Try to get like, Felipe Paulino and one of Jarrod Dyson / Lorenzo Cain for Melky and some arm.
  16. Maybe, at least. You can certainly imagine how a tumor putting pressure on your lower spine would f*** with a lot of things, including your legs.
  17. Don't worry, Sportsnet has brought in Jesse Litsch to smarten up the broadcast. I like Morris though. Really hoping they cut ties with Tabby and put Morris on TV next year. I can stand Buck and Jack. Although I would make that hope contingent on them bringing in someone for radio, because I can't stand the idea of Wilner sliding into an even bigger radio role. p.s., this is the Fox crew, not the regular NESN Boston crew. Although Dan Orsillo and Jery Remy are fairly excellent.
  18. Same bro. Four leagues with playoffs, four decent playoff teams. We r fantasy rivalz lol
  19. Replies: 1,104 Views: 12,554 Thanks Obama!
  20. No he's not. I'd explain why but I don't think you'd really understand. And the most important thing in the game definitely isn't getting base hits, it's contributing positively to your team's run differential.
  21. Chris Johnson, the third best hitter in the game eh.
  22. officially convinced that you're a troll.
