    Votto is the same player today as he was when he was 14 years old, a complete player. It's who he is and nothing is going to alter his approach, especially opinions from fans.

    Just enjoy the f***ing game and appreciate the actual physicalities that these professional ball players can bring. Stop overlooking the actual physical act by fast forwarding to check how his WRC + has been affected. For fans who actually play or played ball, I think there is a greater appreciation. All others view the game in a digital sense. This is where things get seriously f***ed up. Also, players are paid to perform. Understanding sabermetrics will not make a player better.

    The fact that its a guarantee that Goins will bring stellar defense makes him pretty much a 1.5 WAR. Boni would have to have a great offensive season to get him to a 1.5 WAR. So yes that Boni has a higher ceiling but he's a higher risk, as offense is never a guarantee like defense is. This teams desperately needs stability, so i'd rather take the guarantee.

    Over the course of a full season (or several) , the shut down defense Goins brings trumps what Boni brings every time. You can't expect to have offensive impact at every position combined with solid defense,it would be nice, but not realistic. Don't worry,Seitzer is lubing Goins' anal to be a .250 / .310 type.

    100% accurate on the latter. Lawrie better absorb what Seitzer will bring, especially keeping his hands quiet in his approach, or else he'll soon be part of the Travis Snider traveling band.

    Yeah that makes sense, but one would figure a player's overall IQ would peak between 28-32,and when you add the physical strength to the mix it would make sense that they would peak in their late twenties. The training aspect you describe does accelerate their physical capabilities for sure.

    Meh,i think those curves are whacked. Are they seriously telling us that in the past seven years a player enters the MLB at age 21 and then declines every year after that? That's f***ing impossible. Generally,men are at their physical and mental peaks between 28-32, but i'm not saying these aging curves are totally inaccurate. Very strange..

    FYI, a player's prime years are from ages 28-32, not turning 26 soon.

    Lets hope there was no money spent so far this winter because AA is banking on spending the majority,if not all, of his allowance on Tanaka.
