  1. Yup,Kawasaki over DeRosa for an extra $250k is a no brainer. I think AA has plans of obtaining a better in team option at second and use the cheaper (and the better defender) in Goins as our 25th man over Kawasaki. He likes DeRosa as third base insurance, but i'm hoping DeRosa starts the year in Buffalo.
  2. Lets just hope DeRosa doesn't crack the line up and refuses to go to Buffalo and retires. 750K isn't that bad to sacrifice on a vet as insurance in case there are some infield injuries. I would be f***ing floored if DeRosa cracks the 25 man. AA can't be that retarded, can he?
  3. Saying Posada was possibly worse than JPA defensively is going a bit overboard, wouldn't ya think? Besides, those WS Yankee teams were stacked, tons of baseball IQ to go along with talent. Jorge's offense neutralized a lot of his defensive innefinciancies. JPA is just a useless plug.
  4. Lets hope AA sees it this way also.
  5. Yes i was. JPA handling the ball as often as a catcher does is a recipe for failure, even with Cano at second. There is no way projections or numbers can factor in "the JPA factor". One would have to think the starting basis in improving would have to start with a capable catcher, regardless of any improvements in other areas. There are way too many variables a catcher brings and unfortunately JPA is a negative in every aspect, except for power. Too bad power is near the bottom of the relevant list when it comes to a catcher's credentials.
  6. I have to agree regarding A. J Jiminez having more value than Goins. I'd rather have Jiminez behind the plate with almost any average second baseman, rather than JPA behind the plate with Cano at second.
  7. f*** these projections. JPA f***ing stinks and has no business squatting behind a major league plate. Goins has the defensive ability to keep him employed in the MLB for years to come. Ask Johnny Mac.
  8. 2B is a bigger hole to fill than the catching spot? WTF? Please don't use the full season's WAR numbers at second base either. That's not indicative of what we got there in the last six weeks of the season.
  9. Holy f*** already. If AA upgrades the offense elsewhere and he has no success in finding a quality starting second baseman, then Ryan f***ing Goins is the organization's best option. Unless AA finds a 2.5 + WAR second baseman, its not worth the money. Use it elsewhere. Agreed?
  10. This is f***ing ********. If JPA is back next year, I'm personally calling for AA'S head.
  11. Mottola got fired? WTF? I thought he was doing well with players like Rasmus, Lind and making progress with Lawrie. He also is responsible for helping EE become a more selective hitter. f*** you AA.
  12. Are there people here that would seriously trade Morrow ,Sanchez and Hutchinson for Phillips? GTFO
  13. Thank you Captain Obvious.
  14. Goins is at 70 wRC+
  15. I think he's shown enough in the six weeks to strongly consider him making the 25 man next year. He plays above average defense in both middle infield positions and is hitting a little better so far than his projections, although his BB% could increase. It's a no brainer imo that Goins starts the year with the Jays and Kawasaki in Buffalo, assuming AA finds a starting second baseman. Again i say i'd have no problem with Goins be our starting second baseman if AA can address and significantly upgrade the offense with a C, a good right handed bat to platoon with Lind and possibly a left fielder (Melky is done imo). A #1 or #2 and a solid #3 in the SP rotation and we'll be fine (easier said than done). Trade Dickey back to the NL (Dodgers,Giants?) Bat speed? Pillar has some serious bat speed. If / when he starts to figure it out, he could develop into a solid MLB player. He's hit everywhere else he's played.
  16. We are in serious trouble if Dickey is our ace.
  17. Two fringy players..agreed. Bench importance to a successful team, very relevant. Goins wins over Mac in that regard. No point in bashing the f*** out of a potentially important piece to a successful Blue Jays team. Would i love for us to land an upper tier starting middle infielder? Obviously.
  18. "Funny story: McDonald's career ISO was 0.91. Goins is at 0.75 and ZiPS and Steamer have him in the 80s. So no, he's not Manny Machado compared to Mac." If you are going to pull out stats and shed Goins in this manner based on a microscopic SS, then you have crossed the threshold.
  19. Time will tell. Funny now on how BTS has crossed into the land of using Mac as a barometer.
  20. Seriously, not really. The kid is going to turn out to be a solid MLB bench player.
  21. I'm more than comfortable in saying that Goins will be a better offensive player than Mac.
  22. Compared to Mac he is. That is what we are talking about here, right?
