  1. So trade him now. Dont wait til deadline. If Vladdy really wanted to be here, he would have signed . I have never liked Shatkins for one minute, but I dont blame them for this. Halladay took less money to help make the team better, but Vladdy knows his worth. Vladdy wants to win a world series, but if the Jays gave him whatever he was asking for, how much would be left to sign better players. TRADE HIM to whoever comes with the best offer.
  2. This is so disappointing. Not because we didnt get him, but because it almost looked like there was a real plan for this team. Sign Sasaki, sign a couple of offensive players, extend vladdy. Lots of possibilities and as usual the Jays end up signing an overpriced, underproducer. For what? What exactly has chasing the unattainable accomplished. and who is responsible. Maybe it was Rogers and not Shatkins, and if that is the case, this team is lost. Either way, a real disappointment.
  3. It was discussed on mlb radio today that he also had a contract with the Braves that they backed out of after the physical.
  4. This FO came here promising lots and blaming AA for everything. Making the playoffs when they were finally expanded and never winning a game with a more than adequate payroll and having one of the bottom farm systems in mlb is their legacy. Every single team in mlb has successes in trades or draft picks, including shatkin, but those two have been a dismal failure and should have been fired years ago.
  5. . It's that they completely failed at development. Like, worst in class level ineptitude at producing young MLB players. And everyone on this board said the same thing. Why is it the two supposed geniuses from Cleveland didnt know it, and Rogers allowed it to continue for so long.
  6. Most critical thing I have ever seen written about the Jays, and exactly right on every point.
  7. Blair and Barker and sirius radio
  8. Thanks had a car full of grands and joined midstream. Must tell you my 8 year old grand was upset by them talking about trading vlad, but he was stricken that they would trade Bo.
  9. Lengthy discussion today on sirius. Talking about trading vlad to mets, for their top three prospects plus two major leaguers. Giving mets 48 hours to sign him to long term contract. Said Jays are in worst place possible, and that no one wants to sign for a last place team. Said Shatkins Just trying to hold onto their jobs. Said once Vlad was gone , they will have 30 million to sign bregman and go hard after Burnes. And with a direction to show other players. And their payroll they would still have chance at wc this year and be in a better position for next. They had no respect for Shatkins and final comment was that managers that come from small payroll teams never learn how to make the big moves, and they both feel that this was the case with the jays. It was in Loud Outs, and I believe one of the commentators was Ryan Spilburg, dont know the other Sorry for length here, but as I was listening, it made perfect sense to trade Vladdy, and I had been on fence.
  10. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. May all your blue jay wishes come true.
  11. A few days ago on sirius one of the talking heads said the first team that offered Teo four years would get him.
  12. I hope the games are better than that rendition of the anthem.
  13. The announcer said before he came up. What are they going to do with Alonzo. I said it out loud Walk him. So someone gets a hit behind him, it is still tied, but if he gets a hold of one, Milwaukee is losing. And that is exactly what happened. The yankee series will be very interesting. Neither Judge nor Soto should see a pitch if they come up with someone on base.
  14. What is wrong with these managers that they just wont walk the one guy that can hurt them
  15. Tigers and Braves. Anybody except Yankees
  16. This year is the worst. One of the largest payrolls, a farm system that is empty. And worst of all a very bleak future. We really have nothing to trade that is going to bring back young exciting players. So when will this team realistically be in contention again?
  17. [quote Your grandson is at the age where memories like this will stick with him. Good stuff! You are absolutely right. The place was electric with Jays fans and even though they lost,it was a very good game. Typical Jays offence, but BEST of all, my granddaughter caught a foulball off vladdy, my grandsons favourite. The whole row behind us was very large young men and in the midst of them she stuck up her hand and caught it. It was honestly amazing and my grandson was so excited, words cant describe. She gave the ball to Elliott. It was so special he or she will never forget it. And now he has a ball hit by Vladdy. And that is why I love baseball.
  18. i am in Seattle for the games and it is crawling with Jays fans. Most that I have spoken to say the same thing. They would not be here if they hadnt bought the tickets early. Never seen such a dismal team. Tried to sell their tickets but no one wanted them. Most disappointed they have ever been in team. HATE shatkins. And in my case, while agreeing with all, I am old and probably wont be around to see a turn around. I hate shatkins, because there is NO hope, the farm is a wasteland, and they should have never been hired. But I have a 7 year old grandson that is so excited and I am hoping that this trip will solidify the love of baseball in him. And I wait with bated breath for the powers that be to fire shatkins forever and the sooner the better.
  19. Oh Spanky, dont you give up. You are our last hope that they were going to turn this awful year around.
  20. Well that went south in a hurry
  21. I hate being negative and as stated, there was always something to be excited about. I saw the first game and just about every one in between. Even when the team stunk, there was always hope. Hope of improvement, hope for the farm team , hope they would finally make the playoffs. And while there were disappointments, I was always a Jays fan and there was always something to keep me watching, or attending. This team was built by a group that did exactly the same thing in Cleveland, fixed the park and lost the fanbase because they did not know how to build a winner. The worst part of this year is there is no hope. Olerud is correct, this is the most dismal team the Jays have ever fielded.
  22. Good god, this is so difficult to watch
  23. Not me and I said it at time, and there were a few others. I couldnt stand Shapiro, thought he was an arrogant SOB That kicked AA out the door
