  1. Ohtani scandal deserves its own thread
  2. If that s*** turns out to be true, he should be rightfully tarred and feathered, then shipped back to Japan.
  3. Thanks, I definitely missed those
  4. Has he even played a single inning in the field this spring?
  5. Because you don’t know s*** lol. Apologize to everyone that said Vogel would/should make the team
  6. This ump has been calling some really low pitches
  7. Stop talking about comparisons to other sports. Its not the same thing.
  8. The rules are different for this season. Lets see how things play out. Foot-first slide might be the new meta
  9. They could try to sweep it under the rug. But this could hang over him and the Dodgers all season, so he should probably take a short suspension and move past it.
  10. 5:30 p.m. ET Monday (6:30 a.m. Tuesday in Seoul): A crisis-communications spokesman for Ohtani, who had just been hired, responds to ESPN. Over the next several hours, he and an ESPN reporter talk at various times as the spokesman says he is getting up to speed on information from the Ohtani camp. 8:30 p.m. ET Monday (9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Seoul): The spokesman for the first time says Ohtani paid the debts on behalf of Mizuhara. He says Balelo, the agent, went to Mizuhara, who "finally came clean to him and said that was the truth," and that Ohtani told Balelo he had covered Mizuhara's debts in $500,000 increments. It's not clear whether the spokesman is saying Ohtani communicated with Balelo through Mizuhara. The spokesman quotes Ohtani as saying: "'Yeah, I sent several large payments. That's the maximum amount I could send.'" This part here points to Ohtani willfully sending money to the illegal betting company, which would mean he’s guilty of breaking that rule. Whether MLB decides to consider INTENT remains to be seen.
  11. Yes. But there is an explicit rule stating no player can bet with illegal sports books, which is what Ohtani might be in trouble for.
  12. I think he has major leg/knee/foot issues. Dude runs like a 40 yr old Pujols.
  13. Getting injured in the last week of spring training is FUN
  14. Well at least we have another competent fielder to play CF everyday! Maybe a Schneider/Barger platoon in LF?
  15. For some guys, trying to hit line drives turns into popups, but trying to hit grounders results in more liners. And then you have vlad, who consciously has to try and hit flyballs or else he grounds everything. Its all a mental thing I think, mind/body connection and all that.
  16. I'd take a LHH Jansen without major injury concerns every day of the week. Would be ecstatic if thats what Varsho gives us. Jansen without the injuries is a borderline top 5 catcher in MLB
  17. Ah right, forgot
  18. Yeah you just KNOW there's gonna be some crazy arguments about obstruction calls like this during the first few weeks. We'll see how it plays out.
  19. Chourio too, damn. Feels like we’re seeing a lot more teams rolling with top prospects on opening day. Guess the new CBA rules have made a difference
  20. You’re just so intelligent Jim! Thanks for explaining it
  21. Watch this year we’ll have an elite offense and rotation with the Bullpen having a million injuries and blowing 2-3 games per week.
