    More than fair to start calling the trade a bust now. And I am a big Varsho fan, bought his jersey. He just isn't a good hitter. Trade made sense at the time, dealing from a position of strength to get a LHH OF which we desperately needed. They just went for the wrong guy IMO.

    Yeah he’s clearly not the hitter he showed in 2022. Frustrating as hell but at least he’s elite with the glove. Seeming more and more like Varsho is Kevin Pillar with a bit more pop. Frustrating trade in hindsight considering Kirk completely fell off a cliff too

    He’s definitely missed time in spring training and a few games here and there due to leg/knee issues. That’s a known fact. Not difficult to comprehend that it might get worse with age + playing on OF turf

    Fair enough, but baseball is undeniably a more analytically-driven sport and there’s likely way more guys talking in the players’ ears. End of the day we can only go off results, and results have not been good since Don Mattingly became involved with the coaching staff.

    A few of your previous comments on the matter Some truly unhinged comments. Both trades are fine. Not groundbreaking, but the Randy move was a sneaky get. These moves definitely help their offense for the rest of the year and possibly 2025 also.

    There were a couple guys here saying the Mariners were wasting their time acquiring guys like Aroz and Turner instead of just “going for it” A few of us said no, any upgrades are worth it and both guys were clear upgrades over the scrubs they were trotting out there before

    I’ve lost 2 bets here already from being too optimistic, with my luck i’d lose this bet for being too conservative. And I wouldn’t be willing to wager a “large amount” anyways. Too many variables involved in this game. That being said, I don’t think Vlad gets 300 million unless he repeats his 2021 next year. It could happen, but if im the Blue Jays GM im not risking the future based on how Vlad looks right now. I want to see some consistency with Vlad. Vlad is a big part of why this team has underperformed expectations the past couple years.

    Im really thinking the best course of action here is to just let them both test free agency. Whats the worst that happens if Vlad tests FA?? He likely gets underwhelming offers and maybe 1 big 300m offer from a desperate team. And then we could match the offer if we wanted. No need to bid against ourselves here, its clear Vlad will not be giving us any kind of “discount” so why not wait

    Yall forgetting Bo’s heater from 2022? 1 crazy heater doesn’t mean he deserves a huge contract, lets wait and see how he finishes the year. And if he can sustain a 150ish wRC+ production next year.
