  1. Ang rising up my favourite poster list. Pronto usted podría ser un Darrell.
  2. You know, in all my looking at Kennedy, I forgot to look at his ERA this year. We really need to look no further than this when trying to figure out why we didn't offer Delabar + Cecil (or something like that).
  3. No kidding. He's a league average starter. Since when is 2 years of that (at arb rates) only worth a god damned reliever and a non asset (minor league reliever)?
  4. If they don't move a bullpen arm, I'll be fully supportive of this.
  5. Frenchie never had an 8 bat flip tool. Never.
  6. Better locate your comfiest pair of going ballistic pants.
  7. If you're going to trade Bautista, you're probably rebuilding. Trading for a 30 year old pitcher doesn't really fit well there. Andrus, as discussed, doesn't have a tonne of surplus. Alfaro is intriguing but I think there are far better packages out there if we're really considering a Bautista trade. A 4.5 WAR true talent hitter (declining or not) with the control/contract he comes with is a very, very valuable asset.
  8. Also, people need to stop considering Martin Perez a legit prospect. He's nothing more than back of the rotation filler.
  9. Normally I would agree with you but Andrus is essentially an all glove asset and that tends to peak a bit sooner. In order for him to get better as an overall package, his bat needs to improve. Personally I'm skeptical of that happening. I'd pencil him in as a true talent 2 WARish guy going forward. Not a tonne of surplus, but still a minor asset.
  10. I've turned a corner and have come to realize that nobody knows more about anything than old men in old man pseudo-professions (scouting/umpiring).
  11. Loll @ you thinking he has a Dad.
  12. There's just no measurable effect. It's complete hogwash. http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/fantasy/article/another-look-at-the-home-run-derby-hangover-effect/ There's an even better look somewhere on bpro that I'm trying to track down. Regardless, there's absolutely nothing to see here.
  13. Have fun on that island.
  14. People who think that it does don't understand random variation and haven't watched a big time slugger's last round of BP. It's the same f***ing thing.
  15. There are no bounds to what scouts think they know. My favourite was: OMG Rasmus is one of the best hitters in all of baseball!! Lets underutilize him by batting 3rd!! Idiot.
  16. Beltran turned down significantly more money offered by Toronto to go to St. Louis. I'd say there's very little chance he'll ever play in a Jays uniform.
  17. What sort of none point is this? The official scorer has an effect on just about ever dinometric out there.
  18. Couldn't agree more. That one drives me nuts too. I texted that tweet to a couple of my buddies and put a "despite the horrific use of the english language" qualifier on it.
  19. Well deserved trolling is well deserved.
  20. You mean how they're almost exactly the same as the imperfections in measuring offence? As in, ball in play offensive metrics take longer to stabilize than empirical measures of defence do?
  21. Why bother with OBP when you have wOBA?
  22. Sky Kalkman ‏@Sky_Kalkman26 Jul The Doubles Derby must of killed his doubles stroke. RT @HardballTalk: Manny Machado stopped hitting doubles http://dlvr.it/3jWTRl
  23. The curse of the derby is just a popular narrative of regression to the mean.
  24. Well no kidding. They only signed Longoria to the best contract in the history of the free agency era. You're comparing apples and oranges.
  25. It's also worth noting that play by play based defensive metrics (which are more accurate when we're talking samples approaching a career length) have also always hated Reyes' work at SS. BPro's FRAA is one of these systems. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/card/card.php?id=31511
