  1. You said he's the best you've ever seen. Pujols was demonstrably better (just talking about the bat even). Were you born yesterday?
  2. Cooler Heads Prevail: Waterloo math degree, viciously fooled by randomness.
  3. And you somehow fail to realize that that projection has error bars on BOTH sides. He might actually be a 51 wRC+ hitter. IE an even bigger POS. 63 is a far better guess than whatever the you'd come up with.
  4. True talent projected 63 wRC+ POS is a 63 wRC+ POS.
  5. Lol
  6. Yup. It's unfortunately too easy to confuse these replacement level scrubs.
  7. That's equally laughable though. Hunter Pence, despite being a pretty good MLB starter, looks like a baby antelope out there. Some of the most physical awkward movements you'll ever see on a baseball field. Ask any scout what they think about Hunter Pence and they'll always sort of half laugh when they give you his evaluation because he looks like a goof despite being athletic/productive. Goins on the other hand, looks fairly smooth/normal but sucks at baseball (at the MLB level). In other words, kind of the exact opposite.
  8. Hunter Pence is 6'4" 220. Pillar is 6' 200. You might as well have compared their bats.
  9. Nobody can narrowly frame a problem quite like you!!
  10. Or maybe it's that their front office doesn't dedicate all of their pro scouts to major league games for large swaths of the season. IE, they have a f***ing clue where and how scouts can help an organization.
  11. You must be new to the internet. Everyone is a rocket scientist/superstar amateur athlete who was on injury away from making it pro in like 5 sports.
  12. Quoting myself. This is a first. Anyways, I hope the ask the Fat Greek who should MVP again. That'll be good for a laugh.
  13. It's getting to the point that Mike Trout not winning the MVP this year will be just as egregious as last.
  14. I've actually like Morris alot more this year than I was expecting. He may be a dinosaur but at least he sounds like an intelligent human being. Buck and Tabby are f***ing awful though. Bottom 5 announcing team league wide for sure.
  15. Consider anti-posting.
  16. That must be it.
  17. You're a wonderful poster.
  18. Actually, that's just you falling victim to attribute substitution (again).
  19. Well considering that he's 25 and projects to put up offensive production 34% below average, it's essentially a lottery ticket. Far less than a 10% chance ( a number you pulled directly out of your ass) at becoming a league average bat.
  20. I don't have them handy. If Fangraphs would post splits for the projections, that's all we'd need. Just looking at it, I think his estimated true talent would be somewhere around a 75 wRC+ against LHPs. That's not usable when that comes from a DH.
  21. His career numbers against them were posted above. Even after regressing them appropriately, he's f***ing garbage. A DH might as well hit 0 against them.
  22. Time is not what determines sample size. 1st ABs against LHPs needs to be regressed massively. Drawing any conclusions from the raw numbers is completely ridiculous, void of any rigour.
  23. Poz and Tango walk everyone through Cabrera vs. Trout based on Baseball Reference WAR. Good explanation. http://joeposnanski.blogspot.ca/2013/08/explaining-cabrera-trout-and-war.html
