I'm kinda curious why an otherwise terrible Chi sox team is interested in giving up (presumably) young, controllable assets for one year of Samardzija.
It seems that The Score bought the URL, but they're throwing him a bone by redirecting traffic... for awhile anyway. I don't know why they don't just let him have it back, unless he quit... which wouldn't be totally surprising, considering they fired his long-time partners a few months ago.
I'd rather have Hanley if we're going to throw money at a FA 3B, the SS flexibility is nice. I'd rather land one of Shields or Lester, though, if it's one or the other.
Arrieta is going to crash back down next year regardless, I think we can all agree on that. I'd be desperately selling him if someone valued him as a fringe SP1.
I'd be more concerned with his health than his D. I don't see him losing SS eligibility any time soon. You got 3 pretty solid impact prospects for him, hopefully one or two of them pan out.
I think trade talks will heat up once we get into the boring stage of the LOD MLB draft. At the very least there will be a flurry of activity in February.
I'm still looking to make some moves... Pujols, Craig, Lee, Anibal, and others OTB.
