    Chris Heston is pretty good. He's provided the same numbers as Gio Gonzalez so far, yet I don't think we've ever even discussed him in this thread. Similiar FIP to Bumgarner, Hamels, Zimmermann, Cueto.

    FWIW, in a hypothetical trade where we pick up Shields ($10M) and Kimbrel ($9M), we'd only be adding about $7.2M in prorated salary for the rest of the season. That's not very far beyond the known payroll space (~$5M), and there's an easy business case to be made for a bit of added salary, given where we are on the win curve. This can also be mitigated if we pawn Navarro ($1.9M remaining) or Saunders ($1.1M) off on them.

    I see no reason he can't hack it at SS until Donaldson leaves in FA. Then move him to 3B.

    Probably close to $25M per year for 5 or 6 years, definitely more than the $20M he's making now (less than $20M averaged over the remainder of the deal in fact).
