I haven't checked this, but off the top of my head, Sanchez might have the lowest K rate of any qualified RP in baseball. It's close, for sure. -

Anyway, Lowe > Hendriks. Personally, I kinda like that Osuna is locked in at closer, it gives Gibbons free reign to use Lowe, Cecil and Hendriks whenever they're most needed from the 6th to 8th. -

I'm pretty sure they aren't going to switch closers in the last week of September. Regardless, we can all agree that Sanchez isn't even one of the 4 best relievers in the pen. -

Sanchez can't be trust with high leverage situations right now, that much is obvious. Osuna in the 9th and Lowe/Cecil in the 7th/8th. -

Career 3.95 ERA/3.98 xFIP, 52.6% GB, 95.1 MPH. He doesn't really walk a ton of guys either, so I think there's something there. He's homer prone but that goes with the territory in Milwaukee. He'd probably be a stud if he got traded to Pittsburgh. He lost some velo this year, so that's a bit concerning, but I think it's within a fairly normal year-to-year variance. All in all, I'm very surprised no rebuilding team bothered to throw a waiver claim on him... probably weren't paying much attention.

Why protect Sabathia? His ERA is about 5 over his last 400 innings, plus he's super old and fat. Like fatter than ever. If I squint at his numbers, his xFIP is decent, but his ERA and FIP aren't going to catch up while he's playing in Yankee Stadium.

Yeah, but he couldn't cut it in an extremely pitcher-friendly park in the NL, so there's not really anywhere for him to turn. His FB velo has dropped from 89 MPH in his salad days to a Buehrle-esque 86 MPH this year. End of the line, methinks.

I wouldn't say I'm saddling myself, it's really just a wait and see. If I need to cut someone come Friday, he's a goner. If I'm blowing out Silvergun, then I'll keep him going into the offseason. It is annoying to lose an elite closer, for example to injury, or in a dumbass trade for Aramis Ramirez.
