  1. I agree with this take. Miller is nothing special by any means. He's a 1-2 WAR player that really shouldn't be at SS full-time. Karns is going to reduce his HR rate significantly at SafeCo and I expect his numbers will look pretty damn nice. I'm not saying Seattle won, but I don't see how anyone could spin this as a landslide victory for the Rays.
  2. Meh, you could tattoo over the year with pretty much anything. Stupid tat, tho.
  3. Well now I'm REALLY worried...

Same. In fact I haven't watched a full game this year. Still trouncing Nick in Nox's league, tho.
  5. BJ Upton fell off the face of the earth, but Melvin Upton is a 110 wRC+ bat with plus D and baserunning! Could be a useable 4th OF, too bad he makes $16M. I have to think Preller partly took on Upton's contract with some deluded notion that it might help him re-sign Justin.
  6. Lol yeah, that was an epic raping. Shockingly, Melvin Upton turned in a pretty solid season and just about earned his salary.
  7. I'm not going to consider a 26 IP sample meaningful and declare him a good reliever, sorry. His K rate during that stretch was under 7 per 9, which it goes without saying is very poor for a reliever. If you think for some reason that as a reliever he can magically cut his HR rate by 2/3, then that's your opinion. I'm not buying it.
  8. I guess the bigger point here is that the Padres suck, and really shouldn't bother keeping an elite closer with a sizeable contract given how good they are likely to be next year.
  9. Why do you think that? It's not like the Braves got knocked over with incredible offers. Basically the deal was one good prospect + you eat Kimbrel's contract. I don't see why that would be any different now. There actually aren't very many teams that would be in a position to trade multiple good prospects for a reliever making $10M.
  10. I'm still pretty much of the opinion that Sanchez is going to suck, or at best be mediocre. He has one good pitch, and he frequently can't even command it. But yeah, 4.60 FIP relievers don't grow on trees!
  11. I don't think Kimbrel would be cheap, per se, but he might cost less than Wisler's perceived value when that trade occured. Maybe Sanchez for Kimbrel straight up?
  12. I was more thinking that Osuna moves to the rotation and Sanchez gets traded, but that would be a dynamite pen.
  13. Am I the only one who wants to trade for Craig Kimbrel? I'll show myself out.
  14. I don't agree with this. The intention is to help small market teams losing marquee free agents, which is a philosophy I can get behind. Rather, I think all FAs who get QOs should get a comp pick for their team, regardless of whether or not they were traded midseason. You're not going to trade for a guy midseason, then offer him a $15M QO just to scam a comp pick, so I don't see why that rule was instituted. It was a totally different ballgame when it was Type B guys getting traded midseason, but with QOs being so high, the loophole is closed.
  15. Now wouldn't be a bad time at all to take over the Marlins as a GM. They have some good young core pieces and potentially a ton of salary to blow on FAs. They could probably afford to ink Heyward and Greinke, and field a competitive team next year.
  16. I should probably just resign from this league, I don't know who any of those guys are.
  17. Unfortunately, Price won't cost anybody a pick.
  18. That's easy to say, but I'm pretty sure any of us would leave our jobs for 2-3x the pay, even if we knew the employer had a terrible reputation.
  19. Oh please. If that was the case, he would have said he was walking away from baseball to spend more time with his family. He intentially left his reasons extremely vague, both to the public and Shapiro (according to Shapiro). He also said in his press conference that he can't see himself working in any other business but baseball right now.
  20. I agree Hurl, and in fact that makes me more excited about this season. If it is a disaster, Bautista and EE will be huge trade deadline targets, we could get a Top 30 prospect for each and then some. As for trading them this off-season, it's inconceivable.
  21. I'd love to sign Heyward though, even at $200M. Put him in RF, Bautista to LF or 1B. Then you either platoon Revere and Colabello, or more likely trade Revere to clear salary.
  22. JB and EE have 10 & 5 rights, as has been mentioned many, many times. You can't just trade them, they have full no-trade protection.
  23. Not a chance. Maybe a few million, nowhere near that much.
  24. Cliff Lee is dead. Not even worth discussing.
